Joseph Moses Ayodele chiayodele@yahoo.com Birthday: June 6,1966 Education: B.SC (HONS) Geography Occupation: Administration What is your vision of a world that works for everyone? What do you see as the most pressing problems facing the world today? How do you feel these problems could best be solved? (i). Investing in a child's future: As the saying goes, “Education is a
treasure that cannot be stolen. Education enables the children to empower
themselves and follow their dreams-it therefore brings hope of a better
future and a better society. Providing “quality basic education” to millions
of children has become a very challenging task. So, if a lot of them are
given quality education they would become productive citizens in the future
and this problem would be solved. Provide flexible learning: You can help by providing computers, Internet laboratories, educational television and even teach English through radio (School System Conversion Package). Build multi-grade schools: By providing multi-grade classroom facilities, learning materials or help enhance multi-grade programs in areas where they are needed. Help pupils complete school: Through the “Pre-school Program,” “Modified In-School-Off-School Approach,” “Feeding Program,” this support can go a long way in helping children finish their basic education (Basic Education Completion Package). Help build more classrooms: You can help build mobile school houses in areas with sever classroom shortages in just two weeks. Help train teachers: You can help provide training programs to more teachers across the country (Teacher Training Package). Generally, paper qualification should not be encouraged. (ii.) Adoption of Programmes: This will give private institutions and individuals the opportunity to participate in the effort to improve the quality of public education in the nations. This can be done by providing assistance in the construction of new classrooms and training of teachers, providing of more textbooks, learning support facilities, health and nutrition interventions, and other initiatives. There are a number of ways through which private entities can help. Take for example, Business groups, non-government institutions, civic organizations, as well as private individuals can choose map out programs such that would empower the youth on how to be self reliant and self employed. (iii.) Through responsive and innovative venture capital systems and entrepreneurial training both in schools and colleges: We will have more enterprises leading to a large number of employment generators rather than employment seekers. A pro-active healthcare system delivered through innovative schemes will provide quality healthcare access at an affordable cost to all the people of the country including those living in remote areas. Everyone will have an opportunity to take up and complete courses of choice in higher education. (President's message: Vision ignites the nation A P J Abdul Kalam / New Delhi January 26, 2007). (iv.) “Accelerating Physical and Human Infrastructure for Wealth Creation
and Poverty Reduction”. Accelerating the development of human capital is
crucial to the ability to attain this developmental aspiration. In this
regard, focus could be placed on improving the quality of education,
healthcare and social services. The goal here would then be to ensure that
gains of the strong fiscal outcomes are translated into the improvements of
the social indicators and the quality of life of the citizens. Thus, if
programmes such as Wealth Creation, Employment Generation, Poverty
Reduction, and Value Re-Orientation are mapped out and executed the problem
of poverty would be drastically reduced if not totally abdicated. In other words, I want to be able to effect positive changes in the lives of children and youths.
