As A Man Thinketh Part One - Review Of Contents In the book, the part that are more significant to me can not be said to be a particular part because all the parts in the book are very relevant to me. All the part in the book have one significant or the other as regards my life. I found part one to be talking about thought and character, I was able to understand that thought and character goes a long way to determine what an individual is and how he goes living his life..This part also reveal to me that sometimes that what ever thought I have is what I exhibit as in character. That is say that whatever goes on in ones thought is that person does. I also find it significant that man in some way can ruled out is character as a result of his thought. That thought in the mind hath made me what I am by thought was wrought and built. That I can find every truth connected with my being if I will dig deep into the mine of my soul , I am the maker of my character, the molder of my life and the builder of my destiny. It is only by patience, practice and ceaseless importunity can a man enter the door of the temple of knowledge. I need to put something in order for me to get another. That is before I
will cultivate I will need to plant. thought and character are one, and as
character can only manifest and discover itself through environment and
circumstances. That man should not be limited with whatever they see around
them. Life is not an element of chance, but all is the result of a law which
can not err. Man should not believes in the circumstances that surround him
because you can not create the outside condition. Good thought bear good
fruit and bad thought bear bad fruit. We should not be anxious to improve
our circumstances but improve A man can not directly choose his circumstances, but he can choose his thought and so indirectly, yet surely shape his circumstances. One should not live in fear. Strong pure and happy thought build up the body in vigor and grace. The body is a delicate and plsatik instrument which responds to the thought by which is impressed. Men will continue to have impure and poisoned blood so long as they propagate unclean thought. Cheerful thought dissipate the ills of the body, he who has conquer doubt and fear has conquer failure . Part Two - Personal Impact I have learnt from the book that thought and character goes together and
for me to succeed in life I will need to think in such a way that will
influence my character positively. I as an individual need to take into
consideration of what goes on as regard my thought. Thought in the book has
made me to know that there is a like to the way I want to do things I have
also learn from the book that thought will only help me achieve the right
things of life when I think positively. It is the way I think of things that
I will get them. So I should try as much as I can to think positively so as
to get to the peak of my dreams. I have also understand that thought help to
determine my circumstance and only if I can think positive as regards my
dreams and aspiration that I can get to the peak and circumstance will
change. The circumstance we are looking at here can have a link to the
present situation one finds itself. The situation can either be of success
or failure depending on what circumstance we are. Life itself is a teacher
and you can find whatever you want from it depending on whether you want to
succeed or fail. I can have my circumstances change for good, it all depend
on the way I think of that circumstances. I also know that thought can not
be kept secret but should be the type that I can use to crystallize myself
up where I want to be. I have one live in fear, since I have finish raeding
and not just reading but understanding what it is to live in fear and I say
to fear goe behind me. like a saying, that you should not fail to try
because tying can can you just understand something‚ Äs better. when I leave
in fear I can not really do some certain thing because of the fear of
failure. i have now understood that the fear of a particular thing I now know that my thought is linked as well to my purpose in life, I have a purpose but have I have the thought of my purpose, that is the question I asked myself when I finished reading the book. I will conceive a purpose and I want it to be legitimate so as to help me accomplish my purpose on earth. After I must have conceive my purpose I should mentally mark out a straight pathway to the achievement of my purpose. Doubt and fear should not come near me when it has to do with the fulfillment of my purpose on earth. Thought of doubt and fear can never make me accomplish my purpose or rather anything I so desire. when I conquer doubt and fear I have conquered failure. I should make myself strong by careful and patient training, so the weak thought can make me strong. All I want to achieve and probably fail to achieve is as a result of my thoughts, I will like the thought that will make me achieves those I really desire but then, can my thought be the right thought, that is what am still trying to unravel, I can only get help myself only that I want to the help, I must be willing to be help and show some kind of sign that will bring about someone helping me. I also need to sacrifice if I want to get progress or probably achieve, an achiever strive very hard to make sure that he get that which he wants. I also like in a situation where will be in charge of my future and determine what goes on in my thought. I am very happy that the book has broaden my knowledge about the way of thought and the implication it has as regards a determining factor of the future. Part Three - Summary The book I will say have help me to shape the way I think and what goes on in my thought. The book from the first part to the last has one or two significant as regarg my personal life. I was able to deduce from the book that man can,in no small measure but to have the right thought about it self and everything that surround him. The way we perceive life is very important and also we should know that the world is ful of different opportunity and one can only tap from this opportunity except he is able to have the right thought. I have known that good thought bear good fruit and bad thought bear bad fruit , to this end I will recommend this book to everyone I can so as for them to be able to take charge of their future. You will be what you want to if only you are willing and able to give it what it takes. Jonathan Livingstone Seagull PART ONE - Review Of Contents Well the book has been of tremendous help on leadership. So many people want to become leaders but they do not know that it takes more than what you think. Well with JONATHAN LIVINGSTONE it was quite different because in the case of him trying to learn what he want to be in future. For him he want to fly but it was not that easy for him to fly as he went through a lot. To him becoming a seagull is what matters to him and how to fly and become one of the seagulls. At first he did not take his time to study the gull and their way of life but rather he went straight and trying to becoming one. He went and make wings and ready to fly immediately. The parents try as much as they could , to make him see reason with him self as regards the way of the seagulls but rather he want to fly and that what matters to him as at that time. After much try and errors, he was unable to make a mark as to what he really wanted. The seagulls are sea birds that use the sea for fun and also make a living out of the sea. There is also an altitudes these sea birds can fly. Most gulls didn't bother to learn more that the simplest fact of flight. For most gulls, it is not flying that matters but eating as well. WHY I FOUND THE BOOK MEANINGFUL. The desire by Jonathan to fly, jonathan love to fly like the seagulls and ready to do anything so as for him to be able to fly. But while trying to do that will not make oneself popular. He was the type that never give up nbecause trying to be a leader there will be different obstacle from right and center but the most important thing is to remain focus and not be distracted by circumstances. Even when he was asked what he wanted, he was precise and insisted, a good leader must be precise and as well be able to define what they want for themselves. There will be so many that one will encounter when you are trying to build your dream and desire, but the never be moved by what comes but stay focused. Being a leader means that there are some hurdles that one need to cross, but in the case of trying to cross those huddle, there will be so trail and failure but that does not mean that you can not make it work because of the errors. It is also learned from the book that the more you try the better you become. Jonathan did that and it worked out for him. After much trails and eventually when you are now perfect, you will have being able to even set some records to which so other will want to follow suit. Determination today leads to success tomorrow, Jonathan was determine and he was able to make it. There is also that while you are trying to do that you really wanted, there will be pain and anger you will encounter, but do not give up cos is one of those price you pay. Do not accept the ordinary. As a leader you do not settle for the ordinary. While you are doing that you want and trying harder, you discover new thing in the course of doing that. After putting all, when success comes you will be celebrated and most importantly, people will be surprised at your breakthrough. A leader needs to be patient and persist on what they want. Learning has no price. Learning to be what you desire has no price attached to it, because it part of what build you for a great future. Part two - Personal Impact The book has a personal impact in my life, as an individual I have always believe in faith and destiny, what I can do and what I cannot do, I also believe that my purposes of being on earth is to make an impact, touch the life of other people. That I was created to solve a problem for someone out there. I also wants to discover my self by doing the extra ordinary, going beyond my expectation, any little opportunity I have, and grab it fast. I also believe that certain things are got by certain conditions, it Is also hoped that I cannot just depend on the things around me, I have to look out for some more things that I can take as a substitute. I have a practical value in my life concerning these book, I now discover that if I did not do much of what am expected of , I would not achieve what I needed, so tried very hard to see how I can teach and train student so as to see values in themselves, I would go for the practical class and some teaching skills and then I believe it was faith that would make me achieve the success I needed but I discover later that with constant practice and training I will be perfect in training and teaching. That was what Jonathan Livingston seagull did, he flew different times at different miles, from hundred of miles to thousands of miles until he got to heaven where he thought that he has reached his destination. I value what people says as in they tend to give me courage and advice on how to overcome fear, boredom and fight for what I need to get. My values are those things that I know is really worth to have as your own, one thing I know is that I always fight for what I value most in life, I struggle for the things that are useful to me. I acquire my goals by striving hard, struggle , put in my best, be dedicated to what I do. My goals to have a good result from what I want to do and what I needed. He who see farthest fly highest, these means if one see beyond what he expected he will reach the highest peak in life. I belief in want something get it. I like to get what I wanted as far as that courage and good effort is there. These book relates to issues in my life because in life we have different people with different goals and beliefs, every body wants to have the best and be the best, To be the best, you have to look at people experience and try to learn
from their experience so as not to make mistake in life. If there any leader
in recent time that inspire me, is in the person of BILL CLINTON. Part three - Summary Is all about learning you want to do and how to go about it. What ever you want to be you can if you really want it. The book of Jonathan Livingston seagull have a little impact in my personal life. Like Jonathan, he want to fly and he really want to fly high but do not make any attempt of flying high he would nôt have reached heaven, more so when he was advice to study fish and how to get fish, he decided to learn how to fly because flying is what he prefer since he has wings to fly, he was later advice that someday the water would get dry and there would be no fish in the water so he concentrated more on flying. The book is more valuable to me because it makes me understand the fact that one should always go beyond his way sometimes to discover other things in life, I should always spread my talents and dream high, see the farthest and reach the highest. The book has also motivated me to increase in my struggle in life, I should not be content with what I have or where I am there are other things I need to strive for in life. The book is very interesting, most especially the part where Jonathan
sank low in the water where he can not find his way out, another part is
where he know the reasons of his living, that it is to reach out to people
and tough perfection. All this do not discourage him rather make him push in
harder. Another part I found interesting is where he flew in the dark and he
was told that seagulls do not fly in the dark that is The part I found most helpful is where they said he who see farthest fly highest and the part I found least helpful is when he was in heaven . What I disagree about the book is the spellings of some of the words, they are not properly spelt out I had to search in the dictionary so I can correct the words and understand what the page is talking about. Very well I will recommend the book to every one that have a dream and desire to reach there ultimate goal in life without getting distracted or discourage by circumstances. Unconditional Life Your Sacred Self Real Magic Psyhco Cybernetic 2000 1. Discuss the main ideas that you found most important in this book and discuss why they were important to you. I found every idea in the book to be important, but I have chosen the few ones because they are relevant to me as an individual. - Self -image. This book in chapter one, makes me understand how people over the year and even presently have being attended by their self image. They want to see themselves as they are and not want to believe that they can get out of such a situation only if they want their situation change. The self- image has to do things with limitation of oneself not seeing the possibilities of doing those things they can do. In chapter one, I understand, that for one to be a success, one need to programme him self / herself, as using the brain as an automatic guidance system. The human servomechanism can either be success mechanism or a failure mechanism. - Imagine your way to success - It is said that people often feel and behave according to what they imagine, by such imagination is ability to create image in our mind and give us and give us direction on what to imagine. - Turning stress to success - It is said that relaxation helps us to create imagination .It is also believed that this is when servomechanism can work properly. We need to relax in order to be able to create image in our mind that leads to success. - Goal also need to be set, that as a human being one of the way to success is the ability to plan and work towards goal that has been set. - Using negative feedback to point towards success. There will be hurdles in setting goal and working towards the actualisation of those goals, never give up, use internal guidance to kick in. Chapter two. In this chapter, the main ideas are: - How to change habit of failure into success. Looking from chapter one, we saw some character that has said never, but you to be who one really wants to be, you never say never. Also no matter what the circumstance is , one can create change in one's life if only one wants that change: That is anything that has been learn can be re-evaluated and challenged. Anything that has been challenge can be relearned with new data to replace old data. The CRAFT of reprogramming: Taking control of ones creative mechanism and reprogram it is a success mechanism; Change comes about through awareness of a negative self-image. By challenging the bad habit using the CRAFT reprogramming. Cancel- Replace -Affirm- Focus- Train. False thought need to be cancel and replace with new ones and affirm those new belief and focus one and the mind to accept it for a change. Chapter Three. - FAKE IT TILL YOU MAKE IT - IMAGINE YOUR WAY TO SUCCESS. Believing is seeing: What you see is what you know and what to believe. This chapter has a lot to do with success; what ever can be imagined can be delivered. - Reflective Relearning. Mental practice, using our creative imagination to select positive images. Every idea learned can be re-valuated and challenged. Every idea that has been re-valuated can be relearned with new. In this chapter, I will say that it has help me to understand how I can fake it I make it . Believing is what I see and how to my creative imagination to select images. 2. Can you relate the ideas or concepts in this book to your personal circumstances in life such as your relationships, your beliefs, your goals, your values, etc? Please use personal examples in your explanation. FREE YOURSELF FROM FALSE BELIEF. In this chapter, it has helped me to understand to what extent false belief can be destructive and also affect our creative imagination. There are some things that were told by our parent when we are growing up. But when one has come up age, you begging to challenge those things as to whether they are true or not. But all the same, the subconscious mind keeps on saying yes to them and they remain hidden to the conscious mind. False belief also hypnotized - I will want agree with these to a larger extent because, sometimes in my community, we were told not to fetch water from the well at night. That belief hypnotized so many until we found out that there is nothing to do it at all One should be very careful of what he /she tells their children as regard using words to qualify them and they might want to believe that you have said it to them. Chapter Five. This chapter talks about relaxation and its important to thought, health and a way of relearning. Relaxation can bring about creative ideas because these are not consciously thought out. Relaxation can help one look into a problem and sees in his imagination the desire end result. Relaxation can also help reduce stress that might lead to heart attack and that is why people in country like Nigeria have over the years develop heart problem because bad governance and the hope of what tomorrow will tell. The step of relaxation in the book are pretty okay, but it might not be applied to other part of the world most important were there are still greedy and selfish leaders. When one relax, the tendency of conceiving new idea as there and when you conceive new ideas you start to learn those idea by putting into test and practice. Chapter six. Well, I want to review this very chapter in away that suits my understanding as an African man. It is okay to relax, there is no doubt about that but, and people will want to relax so as to be stress free. It is said in this chapter that when we are disturbed in feelings either emotionally or otherwise, our anger, hostility, fear, insecurity this causes stress and worries. But the last chapter have discussed relaxation as the best way to forget our stress. It is not also good that fear should erode someone. That no matter how little one can get relax, it should just look for a comfortable means of relaxation so as to be stress free without using any drugs. It is noted that stress come as the way we handle situation when it comes. Chapter Ten I found out in this chapter that the most effective means of helping one achieve success is when the person's personality is involved. The personality is making sure that the person has seen his/herself in where they want to be. Having them graphicalise the picture of what success look to them by then we can now shape that person towards that personality. I am of the school of thought that leader am not born but are made by achievements. We should as individual to create an impact in people lives because we are created to solve someone's problems. Also we should not live someone else's expectation. We should not own individually and pursue our dreams. Chapter 13 This is the last chapter in the book, will it has last key as to what a leader can use to live long and more years. It talks about Healthy self-image as it add more year to one. If we place ourselves in the sort of goal situation where more life is needed that will receive more life. When we have a positive self-image that it equal congevity, that is our behaviour towards ourselves and others. We can find our own best self, to be the best, we need to work it out using our servo-mechanism rightly. A leader should have a self -esteem and we should often times write a description about ourselves and would be with adequate, healthy measure of self-esteem. Negative thought should be allowed to erode myself-esteem 3. What are the most important new ideas or concepts you learned from this book? Please Explain. The ideas are many but I will like just to explain just one or two. Turning stress into success: I never knew that stress can be turned into success until I read this book. I will want to use SEEDS. Turning stress to success, I have to view the situation, evaluate the problem that causes me stress, look at the kind of emotion I have attached to it and my emotions to suit the situation, I should do what is necessary to confront the situation and also feel my self-esteem increasing as a result of my action. EVERY YOU IS AN I Building charity into my personality is a matter of habit. Respect individuality - Remind yourself that he/she is unique individual child of God. Consider the other person feeling - do unto others what you want them to do to you. Get Involved - In addition to your purely personal goals would have at least one impersonal goal or cause, which I can identify myself with. Also that whatever one want to be can be achieve if the person can only use his subconscious mind to work with conscious mind. There is a lot one can learn using is subconscious mind through thought that comes from it 4. Has this book challenged or changed your thinking in any way? If so, explain how? Not really because what is in the book is still some of the thought i have but has contributed a little to help me the more. You do not say never. Also never let youself down and always be optimistic 5. Are there ideas in the book that you totally disagree with? If so, why? No idea in the book that i disagree with with, just that America things work and the probability of such things to work here is slim if only there is an enably environment to make such things work 6. What did you find most helpful and least helpful in this book? I found everything I read from the book helpful, because it share the experience of people that have use there creative thinking to change there world and those that are unable to use there creative imagination very well. I also found it helpful to know that relaxation can help one think and make use of the power within that god has given to every one. There is no magic that can come from any where to be successful but the magic that is in human through creative. 7. In 50 words or less, please describe the main idea the whole book is trying to convey To develop a personal action plan for improving personal and professional life. Be more assertive with friends, family members and different co-workers. How to develop self esteem and maintain a high self-esteem. Making use of the servomechanism in achieving greater success. How to use creative ideas in building your imagination Eliminate stress and anxiety and replace it with positive action. Making use of subconscious mind with the conscious mind The rating of the Book A. How interesting was it to read? 8 Success Through Positive Mental Attitude Giant Steps 1. Discuss main ideas that you found most important in this book and why they were important to you. All the ideas in the book are important but there are some that I found most important and it will be discuss as in the course of assessing this book. I can not start by picking at some ideas or the other but I know that I will cut across the whole idea that I found important to me as an individual. Giant Steps: This is the title given to the book. After reading the book, I know that indeed there should be some steps in life that one will take that will be Giant steps that will in no small measure help transform such an individuals. I learnt from the book that there steps which one need take in order overcome some circumstances and issues in life. At first, when I first saw the book GIANT STEPS, what came to my mind was a question that first stroke my imagination as regards the steps I need to take and how giant such a step will be, considering my shape and size as an individual. I got to understand and know what the writer is trying to convey in the book. The steps are not determine by size or shape but what you can do to improve your present circumstances and develop new way to relate to people around you, so that you can live a pain free lifestyle. The journey through life is said not to be smooth, that is why we face different issues and circumstance in life. Life is actually with no definition except the definition you give to it. The steps I have read from the book cut across every human endeavor, either at the work place, relationship, marriage, emotions and public presentation. The book started in section 1, with the topic: Dreams of Destiny and sub-headed it with decision and goal setting. Like every other books that I have read in this level, I have learnt from the books that whatever you want to do here on earth, you must have definite of purpose and defining your priority. Yes, everybody dreams, but how many convert there dreams to reality. Martin Luther King JR, once said that he has a dream and his dream came to past. So I believe that everybody came make there dreams come through if only we can stay focused. Another example is Joseph in the Bible, he had a dream, but his dreams almost got him killed by his brothers but it came to past, so we should not stop dreaming, but at the same time stay focused in actualizing those dreams of ours. Section 2 of the book talks about How to Get What You Really Want. My underlined word in this part is WHAT YOU REALLY WANT, everybody has a want, but how many people can go for what they really want in life. This section focuses on one of the things that bother me as a individual and in Africa. I know what I want, but the rich and the powerful will never allow to attain what your desire is, but I concluded after reading this section, that I am not going to be limited with whatever they do. Well in Nigeria, we have seen a lot of people with brilliant ideas but the so called people in authority will never consent to it, if you do not belong to their class. I know that someday, all this will change in as much as so many people with the same view and all the IIGL student will stand up to face the truth about how true leadership should be like and not the other way round. In Section 3, I learnt that the power to create and the power to destroy lies with the belief we all have. There are some beliefs that is of negative impact but because we are brought up with some such beliefs, we are not ready to correct or turn away from such. It is said that the mind maketh good of ill that maketh wretch or happy, rich or poor. All this put together means that if you are born into the less privilege that you can not change that situation. These and so many other beliefs like that limit ones way to success. Section 4- I learnt from this section that I need not ask question for anything that happen because, for all that happen or occur has it own reason, rather than ask question stay focused. At the same time, the kind of question that should be asked is the one that will ignite us in doing that we want in life. Section 5- Get The Knack of Change: The author took a critical look at how habit and its effect on us. It was also proven with Neuro-Associates conditioning (NAC). I was able to understand from this section that habit is either the best of servant or the worst of master. Meaning your habit can serve you and be appreciated or even make you worst as a master. Section 6- The Vocabulary of Success: This is another part in the book that I took my time to get to understand what the author mean by the use of the appropriate vocabulary and metaphors. That, through the power of our words we can affect men and the entire nation. Adopting the use of new pattern of words can transform individual emotionally, relationship wise, beliefs values and goals. The change in our metaphor will change the way we deal everything and everybody. Section 7 – How To Use Your Action Signal; It was made understood in the book that, there can be no transformation of darkness into light and apathy into movement without emotion. This statement I agree with in its entirety, because if not for emotion that Nelson Mandela has for his people, he wouldn’t have gone through what he went through. Today he is celebrated all over Africa and the world at large. He was celebrated as an exceptional leader that we have in Africa and made history for himself and the world to remember. Today he is reference to some of us because he stood up for is people when it matter and he took the Giant Step of his time. What can bring out the leader in you is the emotion you attached to everything that you need do to alleviate the suffering of your followers. If you are not touched with the way people suffer, then why do you think you want to lead your people. Leadership must be all about transformation and change in the social well being of the people that you want to lead. It takes a leader with emotion to understand what it mean to provide shelter, medicine and food for its people. Section 8- Take the Ten Day Mental Challenge: This section talks about a lot how we as individuals can challenge our metal attitude and putting whatever ideas conceive into play. Knowing what to do is not enough, you must do what you know how do best. I also learnt from this section, that there are some core beliefs and strategies of today’s leaders which is superior in evaluations that creates a superior life. Section 9- Your Personal Compass-: Every human has a compass, but the question is how many can actually stay and abide with his/her compass. There are rules and values in life, in Nigeria, a man value and rule even with the personality can be bought over easily with money. What this section is driving at, I believe is in the area of trying to be objective and know what are values are so that people can see those values and appreciate with us what our values and rules are so that it will be respected by everybody that came in contact with us. I also second the statement that nothing splendid has ever been achieve except by those who dared that something inside of them was superior to circumstances. Section 10-The Keys To Extended Life: There so few little question that I will like to use here in this section, though, the author did not but I just feel that the question are necessary. What are our identity and references? Who do you think we are? Why are we created? Do I have a definite of purpose? If we are opportune, what do you want to change in the world, so that the world will be a better place for us all. These are the question I think we should start asking ourselves as individuals. I know that if we all do the things we are capable of doing, we would literally astound ourselves. This is true. Section 11- Putting It All Together: I have learnt from his book so many great thing that I will say that am so lucky to have read this book and even have the privilege to do the assessment. From section one of this book, each section has its own impact and this impact is on health, finances, relations and code of conduct. After and during the reading of the book, I have started putting all together. Section 12 – The Ultimate Gift: Everybody has one gift or the other, but how many of us can really maximize those gift. This section made it clear and it was clear enough to know that we as an individual will not just learn or read on how we can transform and change whatever we feel is not right, without not being a contributor to such a change and transformation. We need to work with people in such to achieve the goals that we want from them. Life is said to be full of challenges and we live our every new day with one challenge or the other. It will be wise not to learn only but to be a contributor. Only those who have learned the power of sincere and selfless contribution experience life deepest joy and true fulfillment. 2. Can you relates the ideas or concept in this book to your personal circumstances in life such as your relationship, your beliefs, your goal and values? The ideas I have learnt from the book can not be limited such that I found every ideas in the book to be impactful as concerns every area of my life. The book have me improve the way I relates to people around me concerning some certain issues that might arise in the cause of discussion with friends and people that I am working with in volunteering work. It has help change the way I think, as I now know that life really is meaningless, except the meaning we give to it. Giant Steps, I have also read from the book, how I can delete some of the old attitude and replace it with the new one so as for me to be able appreciated for doing what is right at the right time. I also learnt on hoe to take decision that will not affect other parties negatively. I have learnt a great deal from this book and already taking the Giant Step in the area where it is need in my life. Procrastination is very, very destructive, because you keep postponing the implementation of some particular ideas that you conceive into action. I learnt from this book that I need to live my life in a way that cause my constantly feel immense amount of pleasure and very little amount of pain which now form my new definition of success. I also learnt from the book, that one of the marvels of being human is our ability to fill any event with uplifting or devastating significance. I should not take pain in the past to decide what my today looks like. I have also learnt on how to use Neuro- Association conditioning (NAC) in producing change in whatever am doing How I can deal with adversity, shape our lives more than almost anything else. I learnt that as an achiever, I need to see problem as transitory. The mind that maketh good of ill, that maketh wretch or happy, rich or poor:- This is true considering what our beliefs are. I can not say that since I am not born with a silver spoon that I can not bear a generation that will feed on Gold spoon for the rest of their lives. 3. What are the most important new ideas or concept you learned from this book? Please explain. Neuro-Association Contribution:- Know that if you can easily create a problem you can easily create a solution using NAC. Action Signals:- Identifying a problem and looking for a solution to such a problem. Seeing the problems with the sign associated with it. Life has no meaning except the meaning we give to it. 4. Has this book challenge or change your thinking in any way? If so explain. Can you relate the ideas or concepts in this book to your personal circumstances in life such as your relationships, your beliefs, your goals, your values, etc? Please use personal examples in your explanation. Napoleon Hill said that our progress towards success begins with a fundamental question; where are you going? For anyone to get somewhere, he must leave somewhere. Giving a detailed answer to this question would help a lot in getting where one plans to get to. Personally, the answer to this question is stuck in my heart and mind. I think about it all the time. It is a focus that won't let go. It makes it become clearer to me everyday. I have discovered that achieving success in life is not an event, but a process. It can't be accomplished in a day. It is a gradual thing. It is a one-by-one thing. It is a day-by-day journey. I am now part of this process. I read these books. I learn the invaluable words in them. And more importantly, I apply and live them. Hill's keys to success are a book that has set a good foundation for my success in life. I love every page of it. I share its words with people. It gives them a new revelation about personal achievement in life. I love every page of it. I have already started applying its principles where i can for now. It says all about achievement. Again, I apply it to my studies at school. And this is really helping me. I go the extra mile in my studies. I establish a mastermind alliance for courses I don't understand. I also apply faith. My self discipline is awesome. In all, I budget my money and time very wisely. Though I don't have any source of income for now apart from my parents but I still spend wisely the pocket money I receive each time I am going to school. I know that the way I handle my resources today determines how I handle them tomorrow. God does not bless wasters. He blesses managers. Principally, no matter what I do or follow, what helps me most is not when I 'try' or 'struggle' to do things I have to do but it is only possible when I trust the divine power of God. And also when I surrender to it. My last semester's exam's result was a big testimony. I stopped struggling to pass. I just applied some principles in one of the books and I trusted God for it to work. It did. I have realized that when I struggle to do things I am only manifesting competition. I don't think God wants us to compete with each other. I believe when am faithful to my part God will also be faithful to do his own part. This helps us to manifest anything. 3. How interesting was it to read? 10 Nonviolent Communication-A language of Life Goal Mapping 1. What Ideas were personally most important to you in this book? Do not simply list the ideas, but explain or discuss why they were important to you, using personal examples. Goal mapping is a book written by Brian Mayne, to help individual identify with there dream and turning them into reality. It is a book that deals with every of life and it has really impact me. Well, to start in identifying what were personally important to me in this book, I will want to say that ever part of the book, I found important. But because of the words limitation and not wanting to say too much I will like to lay my emphasis on those area in the book that were of paramount to me as an individual. The Book Goal Mapping, is a tool that one can use to turn reams into reality, if properly apply and understand. The writer made use of so many illustration that can assist any individual attain there dream, but the issue is the proper application of such to our goal either in long term or short term. I have come to found out in the course of reading the book that goals mean different things to different individual. Also the time laps of attainment of these goal are quite different. Some persons might have a goal that cut across everyday and what they were able to achieve in each day, while some are on the long run depending on how an individual. When the writer first wrote about how I can use my intention to get my desired goal, which simply means that whatever good intention I have toward myself, which in other words amount to be positive intention. This deal with the power of our thought. I also found out from this book that Success is the natural result of the laws and principle that governs the process of creation, meaning that to be successful in life , one needs to be creative. I was made to understand that the mind plays an important role in the achievement of any goal, the way we choose to think have a great impart in the achievement of any goal set. I need to discipline myself to delay gratification in the short term in order to enjoy greater rewards in the long term is the indispensable prerequisite for success. In achieving your goals, one can do that when you allow the subconscious play its role as to helping do that thing we are not conscious off. Knowing what you want is another key idea that I found important in this book, if one do not know what he or she wants, then you will not be living your life on purpose of what you want to make out of the life. Knowing what you want as an individual help you goal a long way to set your goal. Looking at corporate organization, their main goal why they are in business is to make profit, grow and expand which in other words form there objectives. You will also see that every corporate organization set there goal before starting off any thing at all, the inability for them as a corporate entity the know what they want, then they will to know what to achieved. I have I genie inside of me. 2. Can you relate the ideas or concepts in this book to your personal circumstances in life such as your relationships, your beliefs, your goals, your values, etc? Please use personal examples in your explanation. The ideas in the book that I can relate to my personal circumstances are as follows, - LIFT: which stand for, life, information, for, transcendence. i.e This is simply saying, that we should live a life of information that will lift us up to transformation. It is written that be ye transformed by the renewal of your mind that ye may prove what is good and acceptable and perfect, the will of God. The power to change yourself is the power to change the world around you, this mean that the seven principle of the LIFT help you change the world around yourself. I also learn something when I was reading through this part, I learnt to understand the meaning of responsibility. Which mean the ability for one to response to issue before him and not talking blame. In relationships, I need to consider other people when I am trying to evaluate any opportunity, searching for answer and making decision. This will help me have a clear understanding of my own inner wisdom. I found out that I can never know all I do not ask other to help me with some answer to some question. In relation with people to achieving your Goal, has a great effect because no man is an island on its own, we other people to really achieve our desired goal. As regards my belief, the book has change it because I came to the realization that I need to ask for people opinion rather than acting whole on what I might think is right. It say that each man's belief is right in is own eyes and that there is nothing that is good or bad but our thinking makes it so. I also want to belief that is every man knows how little they are, how less that we may be then. Developing possibility consciousness, I know and belief all things are possible, it all depends on the way we as individual think and making use of our positive mental attitude towards whatever that we want to achieve in life. Being happy, like living with peace of mind or achieving abundance, is a quality that needs to be studied, learnt, worked for and mastered. 3. What are the most important new ideas or concepts you learned from this book? Please Explain. The most important new ideas that I learned from this book are : - have belief in yourself: nothing splendid has ever been achieved except by those who dared believe that something inside of them was superior to circumstances. - Balance your goal: live a balance life, learn some and think some and draw and paint and sing and dance and play and work every day some - Live in the moment: some people: learn from the past, visualize the future and be present in the now. It is unfortunate that some people can not let go or they are trapped in the things of the past. - State your goals in the present tense: we need to be pro-active with our goals. We have to realize that now is , in this moment of time, I am creating next moment, that is what is real. - State your goals in positive tense: taking cognizance of what we say to our self and professing good to our self, no negative comments. We should not let our fears holds us back from pushing our hopes. Do not find fault, look for remedy. - State your goals in persona tense: believe in yourself, because you can only set your goal for yourself only not for anyone else. That the resolution to succeed is more important than anything else, this should always be on our mind as individual. - Allow for lag-time; we should as individual with goals be able to persevere in order for us to be able to overcome almost everything, even nature, this is essential for success. Setting a goal is like firing an arrow, the more ambitious the goal the longer the arrow will reach its target. 4. Has this book challenged or changed your thinking in any way? If so, explain how? Yes indeed, the book has change the way I think. Well I use to feel that goals set for a long term, but now I can now see that goal are achievable even on daily basis. I now know that goals can be more related to success in life. Goals also give you a direction and make you get focus on those things you want to achieve. Goals makes you choose from those things that matter to you leaving those that do not matters. Having a goal in life give you a purpose while you are here and you be able to set you priority in place. Goal mapping make you see obstacles as opportunities. 5. Are there ideas in the book that you totally disagree with? If so, why? There no ideas in the book that I disagree with. 6. What did you find most helpful and least helpful in this book? I found the quote in the book so helpful, because it gives a easy understanding of what the total paragraph is talking about. The question in the book, help me with a quick assessment of myself and on the study examination of my person to know if really the book is impact. The drawing also serve as an easy way to make use of the technique to mapping our goals. Lastly, the personal experience from the consultation also help in understanding the book. 7. In 50 words or less, please describe the main idea the whole book is trying to convey. The main ideas the book is trying to convey is all about putting all resources together in other to achieve your set goal. The book is also learning how you can gain other skills and abilities in achieving your goals. Lastly , the book also convey the idea that success depends upon three core values, happiness, peace of mind and experience of abundance. Please rate the following questions on a scale from 1 to 10. Ten is good and one is poor. A. How interesting was it to read? 9 Goal Setting 101 1. Discuss the main ideas that you found most important in this book and discuss why they were important to you. I have read goal mapping and this set as a continuation of what I have read. In the book Goal Mapping I learnt how to map a Goal, and here Gary Blair in is on book , took a closer look on how the mapped goal can be achieved when properly set. A goal is said to be an end toward which you direct specific effort, meaning that when you put in your in your effort to anything and you should in expect a tangible result, do not relent until you actualize that vision. 'I know for a fact that a man with a vision , is a man with a mission', haven't said this, every man on earth must have a vision to which there should be a mission. Another idea in the book that I found helpful in the book, is the three elements of a goal, - An accomplishment to be achieved i.e what you have in the long term that one need achieved putting all effort in actualizing that set goals. - A measurable outcome i.e looking at the period to which you are likely to achieve the set goal, and within the period the ups and down, and no matter what it is you still have to achieve the set goal. - A specific date and time to accomplish the goal i.e, there should be a time frame and date for a set goal to be achieved. The book also talked about why goal setting is important, well to some and many other, the do not know what a goal is, not to talk about them knowing the important. Goal setting is very important in so many ways, and knowing fully well that you want to live a purposeful and a successful life, there should be a GOAL that you must set to achieve, by doing this, you not only helping yourself get the best of life but also making sure that you are living a purposeful life. God when he created man, he gave us dominion over everything on earth that we should have possession over, but just the fact that so many do not have knowledge of this live a life without knowing why we are here. Every man is born into this world for a mission, when there is no vision there can be mission. Setting a Goal put you on the right track as well as making you focus with what you need to achieve in long term. It is said that goal setting will enable you achieve so many things, among all other things , it will gives you confidence, improves your self image, gives you a direction and makes you identify results from your set goal. It is also written that ever man have the power of choice and when choosing one has to be very careful with what our choice are, ever choice count no matter how small we might see the choice. A choice can either put you in the toward or away from your goals. Respect reality- face the fact: true and accurate information is essential to your success, whether you like it or not, the quality of information is very Vital. Information is said to very important, because an informed mind is a transformed mind. Be authentic and try as much as we can to identify success when it comes our way. If a goal is truly ours, then one is suppose to take pride in it. Make everything count, in the pursuit of goals: each step one take should be very important because you can never know when it offer you the opportunity to grow and probably improve. Respect your right and responsibilities: I know I have so many rights, but as a goal setter, I should be capable to pursue my individual path in life, to be happy and prosperous, to teach and share what I have learnt in life to others and finally, becoming what I want to become. Knowing my purpose of planning: I know that every time I am involved in planning, haven't understood what and why I am planning , it is important to analyse where one is and where one want to be, plans help to inform people around me that I am on purpose, and it should be able to helps me monitor performance. Start with personal planning: this have a relation to knowing what you want out of life and how do you intent to achieve that which you want from life. One should be able to identify with what from life. Is it a job, how to spend your money, how many kids does one want to have and what can of life do you want to live. Never stop planning: planning is something that must be done, analyze, re-planned and done again. In whatever situation we found ourselves, all it require of us is to identify what went wrong and draw up another plan to counter what the present situation might be. It might be financial struggles, major change in market place, or change in personal needs. Write down your goals: goal are credible and clout through the process of writing. Writing something down is the first step towards achieving it. 2. Can you relate the ideas or concepts in this book to your personal circumstances in life such as your relationships, your beliefs, your goals, your values, etc? Please use personal examples in your explanation. There is no doubt that this book have enormous ideas that I can relate to my personal life, but the truth is that there are some ideas in the book that are already practice in my life. Beliefs; the ideas in the book that have to do with my believes is that when you do not plan, you then plan to fail. In other for one to achieve what he want from life, there should be a GOAL. When you have a goal, you are said to be on purpose. Without setting a goal, you do not have anything that you are aiming at. Take the footballers for example, you might asked the question why are they playing, of course, they are playing to win, and it take a GOAL to separate the winning side, that is why you want to see the team mangers to involve in planning and putting all there resources together to see that there team wins by scoring a goal, when a goal is scored, it take the players some strategies and setting of pace before the goal comes. Looking at it from that angle, one should be able to understand to important of GOAL SETTING. When we also take a look at some corporation, the only thing that separate the in for the company to be able to achieve it set goal, and there overall objective which is profitability. Ever company set goal in other for them to be profitable, grow and expand. All of this mention takes human, that is why we need recognize the fact that we need to set goals. Relationship: goal setting is applicable here too, your interaction with people count , how you deal with people also play a very important role in the accomplishing of your GOAL. As a manager, you need communicate the goals of your organization to your subordinate in order for you to be able to achieve them. When we talk about relationship in Goal setting, we can also consider the issue of life partner, I know for sure that it takes carefulness in choosing a life partner that is why you must set a goal of the king of wife you want to marry and what is expected out of the marriage. Before getting married, there should be some qualities you want to see in a woman, and also the issue of attitude. So it is a matter of choice in this kind of relationship. Values: time is said to be more valuable to me, the use of my time is very important, that is why I need plan and set a time frame to achieve the set goal. I know that the only thing that every person have in this world that is equal, is TIME, so the way and manner we make use of our time is very important because it relevant to that Goal that we must have set for ourselves. 3. What are the most important new ideas or concepts you learned from this book? Please Explain. Well I want to say that there are so many ideas and concepts in the book that I learned from the book. I will like to limit myself to the ones that really important. Make Everything Count: this is an idea in the book that I found very important, because I now know that self-knowledge is something that grows as one subject it life to examination. Also that everything that one does in pursuing goal should not be something that will should look down upon, because we never can tell, some of the things that will would have done in the process of setting a particular goal , might also serve as a way of doing correction in order to get the goals right. Identify your goals: It is very important when setting goal, that one should identify with his goals so as to make it paramount. Fit plans to circumstances: Whatever circumstances you find yourself, always see it as stepping stone to achieving your goal. The road to success is not smooth and because it is not smooth, one need to go through the hurdles in as much that the set goals are achieved. 4. Has this book challenged or changed your thinking in any way? If so, explain how? Of a truth, the book Goal setting 101 has really challenged my thinking, because I now know that in setting a goal, one need consider so many things that may serve as a deterrent to achieving set goals. I also get to understand from the book that there are so many area to which goals can be set, it fall into different categories; personal, health, recreation, family, friends, community, career, financial, household and spiritual. 5. Are there ideas in the book that you totally disagree with? If so, why? There are no ideas in the book I disagree with. 6. What did you find most helpful and least helpful in this book? I found the chart, question and exercise and most importantly, the book is straight forward. 7. In 50 words or less, please describe the main idea the whole book is trying to convey. The ideas that the book is trying to convey is that, achievement and accomplishment do not happen accidentally. They are the result of clearly defined goals acted upon until completion. Goals determine what you will or will not become or accomplish. Please rate the following questions on a scale from 1 to 10. Ten is good and one is poor. A. How interesting was it to read? 9 Law Of Attraction 1. Discuss the main ideas that you found most important most important in this book and discuss why they were important to you. I use to see attraction in a more different way until I read this book. At first, when I laid my hand on it, I was thinking I will be reading this I literally see as attraction. To some many that have not read this book, they see attraction to be those things one like and as a result of material things and personal appearance of things and being There are so many ideas in the book that I found important, but because of words limit I will have to deal with the ones that I found most important. Sighting from the book, LAW OF ATTRACTION, I was able to understand what Michael Losier is trying to talk about, or rather the message that is sending out through is wonderful book. It was written in the book that “attraction is whatever one give his/her attention, energy and focus to, whether positive or negative”. If I have to take it from there, I will say that attraction to different people means different things as it can be of a positive or negative. The question now goes thus, what is attraction? In the book, I was made to see attraction from a different perspective. Well I guess I also see attraction the way someone did in the book, Brian Tracy, which is, You are a living magnet, you attract into your life people, situations and circumstances that are in harmony with your dominant thoughts. Whatever you dwell on in the conscious grows in the experience. For me this is just what I feel attraction should be, it should be something that comes from our inner thought and that people see in you that want to get them closer to you. You will see that some people have some things that God has deposited in them that you can not find from other people, because God has created man for different purpose and different reason that is why we see ourselves getting attracted to one another in like manner. Come to think of it, why will someone like DAVID BECKHAM of England or RONALDIHO of Brazil have more fans around the world. What also will make someone like BILL CLINTON the former UNITED STATE OF AMERICAN PRESIDENT seen as the president of the world, or why will someone like BILL GATE to be seen as relevant in the area infotec. The people mentioned so far are just one or few of people that have experienced law of attraction in a positive way, because of what they do or what they have contributed to mankind. I guess if you are attracted, you see people that want to be like you, want to emulate you in all that you have done. VIBRATION: the feelings that ones have every single moment gives a sign out to people around you. The law of attraction always match with what our feelings are. The vibration is what feelings one sends out, and it could either be negative or positive depending on the vibration. For example, if one wears a smiley face, definitely, the vibration you are sending out is positive compare to the one that wears a cranky face. UNDERSTANDING THE SIGNIFICANCE OF YOUR WORDS: I came to found out here in the book that words that we use, speak, type and hear in our head have it own impact as regards law of attraction. When words comes into our head, it set to have an impact on our thought and feeling, by so doing sending a negative or positive vibration out. It was also in the book that there are so words that attract what we do not want. ASKING YOURSELF, ‘SO WHAT DO I WANT?’: I now know that Positive and negative emotions cannot occupy the mind at the same time, one of either positive or negative must dominate. It is my responsibility to make sure that positive emotion constitute the dominating influence of ones mind. IDENTIFY YOUR DESIRE: I came to the realization in the section of the book that it is very important to know what we want and trying as much as possible to work towards getting that which we want. In trying to identify with what you want, that which you do not like which can be seen as contrast will always show it ugly head, and the moment you see some of those things that represent contrast, then you probably complain about then and not focus on your desire. If loosing focus on your desire, then the law of attraction will send out a negative vibration at the same time. GIVE YOUR DESIRE ATTENTION: in trying to give your desire attention, you need to desire more positive attention, energy and focus. The law of attraction brings you more of whatever you give your attention. So the question I ask my self, is what is it that I give more attention to. I came to realize that of a truth, after looking inwards, it was done on me that whatever you dwell on for too long help you attract that which you want. Giving yourself attention as regards what you want in order for you to be able to attract your desire. ALLOW IT: This may sound like a phrase, because we tend to understand what we want to allow. It trying to identify with desire, we have seen that in identify our desire in life, there will be the issue of contrast which always stand as a negative vibration. Allowing is simply the absence of negative vibration and doubt. The idea here is to allow things work out the way they want to and probably will attract that which it tend to attract and might not fall inline with what might be on ones desire list and so on. When you allow things to be attracted the way they out to, despite the fact that it might not really fit your desire, you are allowing it. 2. Can you relate the ideas or concepts in this book to your personal circumstances in life such as your relationships, your beliefs, your goals, your values, etc? Explain. The ideas in the book that I can relate to my personal circumstances are: The use of expression; well in the book, I came to found out that there are so many negative words that we make use and in turn does limit what we attract because of the expression the we have use. Most importantly when you set a goal and you are now thinking that the goals set could not be reached at the set date, all that you have to say is that you are in the process of getting it, by using this words, you have delete the negative vibration from you mind, by the use of the expression. I came to realize that the use of expression can be of great help in attracting what we want in like. When one make use of words like I have decided, the sound so strong because this will definitely help you attract what you want and what you do not want. I tried it after reading and of a truth it really attract what I do want. Another idea in the book is that gratitude and appreciation help one to send out positive vibration. When one appreciate everyday the way it comes, you are intentionally sending out strong, positive vibrations. Before now I do not have it as habit to appreciate each day they way it comes, but after reading the book , it challenge my thought because I do not own the day and why not just be grateful to God for allowing me see the day and that my tomorrow will be grater that today. I will like to relate this very idea to my relationship: it is true what Michael said as regards relationships. That at various time in my life that I have meet with different people, I tend to discover that I do not like some certain things about them. That some people you might not just want to get along with because they might have a negative influence on you and this might not be very pleasant. 3. What are the most important new ideas or concept you learned from this book? Explain. The new ideas in the book that I found helpful is how to be grateful and appreciative for each day. I also learn from the book that attraction is not just what we may see from the material aspect rather we attract even with our emotions and thought. I have seen that the negative and positive vibration are a result of what we thought are. I also found the exercises in the book helpful because it help illustrate some point the writer is trying to talk about. 4. Has this book challenged or changed your thinking in any way? If so, explain. It has challenge the way I think, of a truth, because I see attraction as quite different to what the book said it is. One can attract joy, love, excitement, abundance, pride, comfort, confidence and affection. This are what the book say you can attract positively and of a truth it challenged me. 5. Are there ideas in the book that you totally disagree with? Why? No 6. What did you find most helpful and least helpful in this book? I found the exercise in the book very help, because it serve as a test to what one has just read. I also found the worksheet and the list of vibrational bubble. 7. In 50 words or less, please describe the main idea the whole book is trying to convey. The book LAW OF ATTRACTION, is trying to convey the idea that whatever you want you can attract, but it all the depend on what you want and the attraction you are giving to it. RATING. A. How interesting was it to read? 10 The Power of Intention 1. What Ideas were personally most important to you in this book? Do not simply list the ideas, but explain or discuss why they were important to you, using personal examples. I will like to start my assessment of this booked titled POWER OF INTENTION, I made to understand in the course of reading this book that intention is connected to our source of being as human. That is to have intention, you must first identify that you are for God who is the alpha and omega and the author and finisher of our faith. Haven't understood what this mean to me and as a result of me reading and getting connected to my source, I will like to say here that whatever steps that one take , it has to be the step that is ordained from God almighty. The Power of Intention is a book that I have discovered to be full with new insights about GOD and Man. It is a book that is capable of raising the inner awareness and the inner intelligence of Man that God has deposited in him, because of the following ideas in the book that I find most important. Intention is a universal all-powerful force that exists as an invisible field of energy. I believe that "Intention" here refers to the Almighty GOD, because He is the only perfect example that fits into the above-given definition of intention. In the Bible, everything that is came from divine intention. GOD is all-powerful, omnipresent, and all-knowing. The only reservation I have about the definition is that divine intention is not a force that exists as energy, it is the move of GOD or "GOD in motion. I also get to understand that intention has four steps which could said to be a way of activating to the power of intention and letting go of total ego identification. The steps are as follows: -Discipline: I learnt that learning a new task requires training your body to perform that as your thought desire, so disconnecting ego identification doesn't mean disconnecting from your relationship from your body, but rather, training your body to activate those desire. -Wisdom: this happen to be the second stage in step to intention and it was said that wisdom combined with discipline foster ones ability to focus and be patient as you harmonize your thought, your intellect and your feelings with the work of your body. - Love: this is the third step in intention, after disciplining your body with wisdom, and intellectually studying a task, this process of mastery involves loving what you do and doing what you love. - Surrender: this is the fourth and the last stage in steps to intention. It is also said to be the place of intention, where the body and your mind aren't running the show and you move into intent. It made clear that to experience intention, one has to surrender to the source that made be. Giving it all to the one that created everything and one will experience true intention. Another idea I found most helpful in the book is the way to how one can connect to intention. This are in seven way and are as follows: Be creative: that power of creation and you need to be in your unique state of creativity to collaborate with the power of intention. It was clear from this that one need to connect to creativity. Be Kind: in connecting to intention, it was made clearly that kindness could not left aside , because you need to be kind to people and most importantly be kind to yourself. Well I was made to understand that you do not give what you do not have, you been kind to yourself , means that you can now at least extend some kindness to others. Be love: it was made clear when the writer identify that of a truth that God is love. If one really want to connect to intention, you need understand that the source of our being is love , so then it is expected of us that want to connect to intention get to understand to the extent to which love can make us connect to intention. Be beauty: it was said that beauty is truth and truth is beauty, then it now done on me that it can be as well be seen as to beauty is not what we see but what it lies in the hand of the beholder. I also get to understand that we were brought into this world from that which perceived you as an expression of beauty. Be ever-expansive : it was made clear here that one can be expansive in so many area, but in terms of connecting to intention, we should try as much as we can to be in connection with intention through growing intellectually, emotionally, and spiritually. The all-emerging universe force that intended one into beingness and commences all life is always growing and perpetually expanding. Be abundant: intention is endlessly abundant, there is no scarcity. When one is connected to intention there is no reason why such a person should lack. I found out from this book and it is also part of my believe that if one is connected to the source, then that person should not experience lack. The blessing of God maketh rich and add no sorrows, so when you are blessed by God, you experience abundance, because the kingdom of God is abundant itself. Be receptive: well, in connecting to intention, one have to be receptive in such a way that you respond to everything that will help make your intention come to reality. If one is has ability to response to intention, the it will be easy to connect to it, because you can identify it that is why you are able to respond. You can connect to intention by imagining your desire as achieved (and act in a correspondent way) before you start to manifest it. I discovered that everything in the world was created twice in parallel. This means that before all that is was physically made, they were imagined into existence in the world of thought. This blue-print of creation has not changed. It is still as relevant today as it was during the creation of the world. 2. Can you relate the ideas or concepts in this book to your personal circumstances in life such as your relationships, your beliefs, your goals, your values, etc? Please use personal examples in your explanation. In relating the ideas in this book to my personal relationship The fourth chapter of this book has exposed me to the ways by which man can overcome the grip of the tyrannical ego in him. I realized that in the past, I got unnecessarily offended a lot of times, and I was so passionate about winning at all costs. I was also concerned about being the person to hear in all arguments. I was also seduced by the lust for superiority and achievements. I also learnt this chapter that the goodness you did not see on the inside can not be on the outside, that is, what you do not feel you can not give. I have learnt that it will be dissatisfying acting within the feelings that will ever deprive me of every good thing that life holds for me In relating this book to my beliefs- I have learnt to hold the thought of forgiveness in my heart, because it is expected of me to forgive so that I will be forgiven as well, that is why , when Jesus Christ was teaching, he taught us to forgive 70X70 everyday. I have also leant now to see other people as myself and that there needs should come first, and not to be offended by their action toward me. Well in order to succeed in life one need to be on top of his career as at best achieve what he needs to achieve at a set time, if am to apply the principle in other books that I have assessed so far, but when reading the book something down on me concerning the issue of wining and achievement, then I cam to agree that not every time you win and sometime you loose. When you loose, do not see yourself as a failure but rather you have just gotten another chance to do it right this time. All that is changing now, as I have realized the need to separate myself from my body, beliefs, victories and losses, failures and successes, my achievements and superiority etc. The death of one of my course mates; who was the Class Representative when I was still in the University, shocked me deeply. Apart from the fact that she was a first class student, she was a natural leader after the order of Mother Theresa. Everyone in the Faculty of Technology and the Department of Computer Science and Engineering(her The last time I will like to add here, is that so long now that I have read book written by this same author, I notice that it deals with you and it will definitely calle for a meditation to really get to know why you are here on earth and seeing yourself to be that who God want you to be in life. When you are connected to intention this definitely come to pass. 3. What are the most important new ideas or concepts you learned from this book? Please Explain. The Power of Intention is one of the few books I have read that has taught me to assume responsibility for all the circumstances of my life without any fear, guilt, shame, or resentment. This will empower me to attract more of the circumstances that are capable of changing any unpleasant predicament that comes my way. I have realized that scarcity, anguish, depression, or any ability to attract whatever I desire is most likely present in my life because I may have been attracting them into my life without knowing, through the harboring of negative emotions induced by my ego which is an enemy of divine intention. Furthermore, I have been taught that it is mentally and spiritually healthy to choose to feel good in a world where so much suffering, injustice, and anguish abound everyday in our environment. It may not be that easy to do everyday, but with consistent practice it gradually becomes a compulsive habit that makes life more enjoyable. 4. Has this book challenged or changed your thinking in any way? If so, explain how? Definitely the book has change the way I think and the way I perceive things in general. I came to realize that connecting to intention can really help you go a long way in discovery something that ordinarily you can not do as a mortal being. Connecting to intention is really taking back to your source of being and it will propel you when you are connected indeed. I never believe when after getting a clear understanding of what Dr Wayne Dyer's shared about how his daughter got connected to intention. I tried same and it worked . 5. Are there ideas in the book that you totally disagree with? If so, why? I disagree with the writer that intention is not something you do, but rather a force that exist in the universe. Why I disagree with this point is that, if we see and believe that intension is connecting to the source of the universe, invariably we are saying that we linked up the one that created heaven and earth, so if am to get connected to God, I want to see it as something I want to do, different people have different way to which they commune with the Almighty, the I am that I am. So I do not see intention as some force that exist in the universe. He created heaven and earth, is his the begging and the end, there is nothing without him, so he is not a force. He like to be worship in the beauty of his holiness. Also this book strongly teaches that the spirit of man is a part of the all-pervasive and all-powerful universal force. This is a Hindu doctrine that contradicts the liberating and more empowering concept of Man's creation in the image and likeness of GOD. Man is the most unique, and the most sophisticated creature among all of God's creatures. Man is the only one out of God's creatures that can commune with His Spirit because of the image of God's Spirit in him. Man is not separate from GOD, but he has a choice to be with Him or without Him. 6. What did you find most helpful and least helpful in this book? What I have found most helpful in this book is that creating my future
will not come from my desire to achieve some goals or wishes, it will come
from my intention to do so. My intention to create my future is not about me
alone, it involves seeking the 7. In 50 words or less, please describe the main idea the whole book is trying to convey. This book tries to enlighten us on the availability of divine intention in our lives and how as spiritual beings, we can inspire the move of GOD to work in our favor in our daily activities. Ratings. Unlimited Power 1. Discuss the main ideas that you found most important most important in this book and discuss why they were important to you. I have not seen a powerful book that have technology and communicator in it as UNLIMITED POWER. I have read so many book, but none can be compared with this very one. I could also remember reading one of his book in level one, which is Giant Step. The book Unlimited Power has really help me and I will also recommend it to any one that require to tap into the full potential that is deposited in them. I am presently using the skills I have learned for myself and my career. It is also a tool that you can use for a positive change in live. The regurgitation is very vibrant, a oriented technical approach to change life, it has help me spend more time on step by step detail on how to approach considerate measures, I was not only able to change the way I felt about myself, but the result I was producing in my life is very vibrant. To me, Unlimited Power is the ability to produce the result you desire most and create value for others in the process. Power is the ability to change your life, to shape your perceptions to make things work for you and not against you. Real power is shared, not imposed. It’s the ability to define human needs and fulfill them , both your needs and the needs of the people you cared about. Most of us have heard by will that we are living in information age, we are no longer primarily an industrial culture, but a communication one. We live in a time when new ideas and movement and concept change the world almost daily. If there’s anything that characterized the modern world, it’s massive, almost of unimaginable, is flow of information. Money is what fueled the industrial society, but in the information society, the fuel, the power is knowledge. Information is the commodity of kings, those with access to certain form of specialized knowledge can transform themselves in many ways, our entire world. The truth is that even in the information age, information is not enough, all we needed were ideas and positive thinking. Action is what produce result, knowledge is only potential power until it come in to the hands of someone who know how to get himself to take effective action. Also, the author gives us the seven lies of success. The world we live in is the world we choose to live in, whether consciously or unconsciously. If we choose bliss, that’s what we get. If we choose misery, we get that, too. Belief 1 says that everything happens for a reason and a purpose, and it serves us. It is true with this belief, I was once in a relationship and it had to end the way it ended, with the lady cheating on me, even when I noticed and also caught in the act, I still have feeling toward her, but she told me to my face that she is no more interested, but as at that time, is like the world has come to and end, to the glory of God, I see all things to have happen for a purpose, I first came to understand this , when I read REAL MAGIC, it dwell more on the relationship, now again I affirm it to be true that things happen for a reason and a purpose. Belief 2 says that “There is no such thing as failure. There are only results. Yes whatever that we see as failure is a result. Well I want to that so far so good, I have learnt from previous book that I have read and my orientation about the word failure has change. I now see failure as a verb not a noun. When we see failure as a verb, we see it as a doing word, and when we see it as a noun we see ourselves as a failure. If Thomas Edison as seen him self as a failure, haven’t tried so many time to bring about electric bulb, we would not have the privilege to enjoy light. Some one like him and many other are celebrated as success today, but they failed so many times. Belief 3 says “Whatever happens, take responsibility.” Belief 4 says “it’s not necessary to understand everything to be able to
use everything.” Belief 5 says “People are your greatest resource.” Belief 6 says that “work is play.” Of a truth, it is a play. When you do things you love to do, you see yourself doing it perfectly okay, because you have a passion for that you are doing. I like to mentor and counsel people, and I see myself enjoy it when I do it. Belief 7 says “there is no abiding success without commitment.” This belief lies with success, which means that is in consonant with success. Looking at the believes, I want to say that ever one of the belief have a role to play in other for anybody to become success. When I saw the word lies, I thinks is something that is not true, but when I went through it, I came to the realization that, actually is attached to success. Handling resistance and solving problem: I have become a sovereign by learning the most effective way to run my own brain. When you deal with others, a certain amount of trial and error is inevitable, you can’t direct the behavior of others with the speed, certainly and effectiveness with which you control your own result. I use my personal success to learn how to speed up that process, you too can do that by developing metaprograms, understanding the rules of rapport by learning how to calibrate. Using the trial and error, I have really inherent my human interaction and increasing the pay of discovering how I handle and solve problems that come my way. Taking modeling excellence is vital in learning to solve problems more rapidly. I also make sure interaction with people is more flexible, the key to life is opening up as many avenue as possible, trying as many doors using as many different approaches as it takes to solve a problem, if you run on one program, work from one strategy, you will be about effective as a car run in one year. Developing sense of communication help me to listen carefully, instead of opposing someone’s views, being a good listener is flexible and resourceful enough to sense the creation of resistance, find points of agreements, align myself with others. It’s very hard to overcome resistance, it’s much easier to avoid it by building on agreement and rapport, this is one way to turn resistance into assistance. One of the ways to solve problems is to redefine them to find a way to agree rather than to disagree. Another way is to break their patterns. We’ve all found ourselves in stuck in a kind of problems. The way to change a problem to situation is by interrupt the pattern, that is to say, change the old refrain of your thinking and start new. With time I have developed the tools for changing my physiology, changing internal representation and my states in other to change behavior right on the spot. 2. Can you relate the ideas or concepts in this book to your personal circumstances in life such as your relationships, your beliefs, your goals, your values, etc? Explain. There are so many concepts in the book that I have relate to my personal life and relationship. The ideas in the book that I will like to attribute to my personal life is the ideas of my rapport with people and I can elicit their co-operation, in the cause of reading this book, I came to the realization that good rapport and co-operation of people around me in other to achieve those thing I will like to achieve in life. I make sure that I am a good listener and should take information seriously, because information is the key to the world of innovation and invention. As regards my relation, I will like to say something about my relationship with opposite sex. I have been in a relationship that I though will never end, but when it went the way it went, I now realize that it happen for a purpose and a reason. I thank GOD that I have a reason to be happy and still love again. As regards my beliefs, I hold on to the belief that work is a play, that is doing what I know will bring me joy and what I know, I know how to do best. When I volunteer with UNCEF, to train adolescent in Anambra state, the state where I did my National Youth Service Corps, it was there and then that I identify with myself that, I can do more and so I was able to do more than I can imagine and seeing myself giving hope the hopeless. 3. What are the most important new ideas or concept you learned from this book? Explain. From this book, I have learnt that there are no limits to what I can do.
My key is power of modeling. Excellence can be duplicated. If other people
can do something, all I need to do is model them with precision and I can do
exactly the same thing. 4. Has this book challenged or changed your thinking in any way? If so, explain. Anthony Robbins books always challenge me. But one major problem it has with majority of those that read in Nigeria is the hefty volume of his books. The story of his life written at the beginning of this book challenges me a lot. How he was able to achieve success in a younger age even without college degree. It’s amazing. 5. Are there ideas in the book that you totally disagree with? Why? No! 6. What did you find most helpful and least helpful in this book? Every idea, principle and suggestion in this book is vital to those that will like to achieve great success. This book has talked about how to find what we really want, how to reprogram our mind in minutes to eliminate fears and phobias, the secret of creating instant rapport with anyone we meet, how to duplicate the success of others, how to create wealth and happiness. All the principles are vital. 7. In 50 words or less, please describe the main idea the whole book is trying to convey. This book is trying to covey the idea that every one has what it takes to achieve what we need to achieve. All we need to do it to activate our self to that power that is unlimited in us. RATING. A. How interesting was it to read? 9 Leadership For Dummies 1. What Ideas were personally most important to you in this book? Do not simply list the ideas, but explain or discuss why they were important to you, using personal examples. There are so many ideas in the book that are personally important to me like every other book that I have read from this program. The day I laid my hand on the book, I thought it was some kind of book that will go by what is title was, but to my greatest surprise it was a book that everybody need to read as to equip you on what you do not know as regard leadership. The authors did a very great job by using some life experience of other people that have one time or the other find them in leadership position. It also dealt with what their experience was at a time when they need to act or rather make use of their leadership qualities that they have. Talking about ideas in the book that I found personally important, I will want to start by talking about the following ideas, * What it takes to become a leader: I learned from the idea that anyone can become a leader but all leadership is temporary, and also that leadership begins with the willingness to embrace responsibility, accepting the responsibility that are given is not enough and you have to step forward and say that I want to do that. Leaders have the ability to inspire to go beyond what they think they are capable of doing, making it possible for a group to attain a goal that was previously thought un attainable, leaders carry their followers along. * Three key leadership Abilities: Here I got to understand that after you must have agree to embrace responsibility as a leader, there are three abilities that you must consider as an intending leader; a) Eliciting the co-operation of others: as a leader, you must be able to get other to buy into your vision of the future and the right way to get there. b) Ability to listen: I need to be able to gather information from others in order to lead and the only way I can to this is to listen well and posses a good listing skills. c) Place the needs of others above my needs: I learned here that leadership is all about sacrifice, and putting other need first will help bring the leader in you. * Understanding your leadership potential: I learnt here that leadership is an integral component of human interaction. Few things are got done if people do not pull together and much will be done if there is cooperation of others in getting things don. I was able to understand that everybody has one way or the other been a leader in the way they must have handle issues that require them to make decisions, if only, individuals can understand what they have inside of them, then they will know that the have the potential of a leader. * What leaders need: I also learnt that every person that are out there can lead in one way or the other, if what it take to become a leader is made available. For a leader to identify with his/herself, then there will be need to go through training so as to identify with the leadership potential that is within. * Leaders require a goal, becoming a leader, you need to set goals and make sure that those goals are attainable at the required time that is set for the accomplishment of such goals. The last issue here is that to become a leader, you must have a set of people that you want to lead, that brings us to the issue of followers, without followers there is no leaders. The ability for you elicit the cooperation of other makes you listen to then as well as putting their need above yours. In this part, I also learn the type of leaders that we have and how they come to be as leaders. There are some that can be classified as situation leaders, transitional leader and hierarchical leaders. - Situation leaders: this is said in the book to be a leader that person that is right, in the right circumstances and in the right time. They also responded to circumstances in the right time to fulfill a leadership role. - Transitional leader: this type of leader is said to exist when the time is right but the circumstance is wrong. The type of leadership can be the type we have in political setting around the world today. Take a look at George Bush of the united state for example, though the time for him to become the president of the united state would have been right, but the circumstances surrounding it is wrong. - Hierarchical Leader: this is a leader that the circumstance is right but the timing is wrong. This type of leader that assume leadership position because it is there turn to become a leader, a typical example is what we experience in my country Nigeria, where some politician believe that it is there turn to become the next leader of the country without exhibiting any leadership or having any leadership abilities that we have mentioned earlier. All that I have learnt from the part of the book, is what it takes to become a leader and I came to understand that leaders are not born, but they are made by there antecedent and abilities to lead people. To become a leader, it is not about becoming so dictatorial, but also to listening to people and working as a team so as to achieve your goals. Leadership is a process: I learnt in this part that leadership is a process, that becoming a leader, it will take a lot hurdles to cross and lots of trial and errors. The most important thing here is that, haven’t understood the task and responsibility that has bestowed on you, it take the co-operation of others, listening to people around you and putting there needs above your need that the process of leadership could be said to be in the right direction and on course. A leader must have a mission. Identifying with this part, I came to understand the important of SWOT, which mean the strength, weakness, opportunity and threat. I want to say here that since leadership is a process, the need for every leader to understand its SWOT is very important in handling some of the issue that might arise in the course of being a leader of a particular organization. 2. Can you relate the ideas or concepts in this book to your personal circumstances in life such as your relationships, your beliefs, your goals, your values, etc? Please use personal examples in your explanation. In relating the ideas in this book to my personal life and circumstances, I will like to say that sometime in my life I have found myself in the position of leadership. Where I was saddle with the responsibility to train adolescent and see myself to be a role model. It wasn’t easy, but because I have the potential as I read through this book, I came to realize that indeed that I have exhibited the leadership abilities in me. It happen when I was doing my one year youth service in the eastern part of my country Nigeria, I was trained from the orientation camp to train adolescent in the area of life building skill and adolescent reproductive health respectively. I was also opportune to talk about HIV/AIDs, one thing I noticed while all of this was going on, is that the student that I am training expected too much from me and some see me as there role model that in the history of youth corps member serving in that school, I am an exception. How did I come about this, I will say that I found myself doing that which I need to do at the right time so as to elicit the cooperation of the student under training. In relating leadership to relationship, I think here that the ideas in the book has really proven that of a truth there is a leadership role played in the way we relate to other people. For one to be able to take responsibility as regards action to be taken and knowing fully well that the need of other should be put first before your one, then I think that I have been able to exhibit the leadership ability in me. In other words, the issue of volunteering and coaching of younger one in soccer has been a thing of passion to me when in did my voluntary work with HOPE World Wide Nigeria, on life skill camp, for orphan and vulnerable children. I never new I was leadership position not until a come across such in the book, then I came to \ realize that indeed it was a leadership role that I performed. I am an individual that has always belief in goals, and for such a goal to be achievable; there must be a vision and mission to the achievement of such goal. I know that goal is either long term or short term. So far so good, I did set some goals at the beginning of the year, and I want to say that I have been able to accomplish the goals. 3. What are the most important new ideas or concept you learned from this book? Explain. First and foremost, I will like to say that the most important ideas in the book have to do with the leadership abilities that which the book is built upon. The leadership abilities can also be seen as the qualities of a good leader. Secondly, I was able to differentiate between dictators and leaders, which the book draw a clear distinction on both of them. Lastly, the book took time to differentiate between the three type of leader and making clearly the different between Manager and leader. I want to say that manager will want to get things done the way they want it, but leader will want to elicit the co-operation of other in getting things done, by so doing, everybody have a part to play in the in the organization to achieve the overall objective of the organization. 4. Has this book challenged or changed your thinking in any way? If so, explain Indeed the book leadership for dummies has change the way I think and what I use to see as nothing, I have come to identify with it as leadership potential in me. I will like to do more of my volunteer work and coaching since I have discover that is a trait of leader. 5. Has this book challenged or changed your thinking in any way? If so, explain No. 6. What did you find most helpful and least helpful in this book? Every idea, principle and suggestion in this book is vital to those that will like to achieve great success. This book has talked about, how to become a leader, identifying with the leadership potential with you, working as team in achieving the goals that you must have set as a leader. Most importantly, no man is an island on his own. All the principles are vital. 7. In 50 words or less, please describe the main idea the whole book is trying to convey. This book is trying to covey the idea that every one can become a leader, if only the leadership potential in them are identify and the ability to take responsibility. Leaders are not born, but are made. RATING. |
