Assessment by Aremu Abosede Oluwaseun...
As A Man Thinketh
Assessment by Aremu Abosede Oluwaseun (Nigeria)
1. WHAT IDEAS WERE PERSONALLY MOST IMPORTANT TO YOU IN THIS BOOK? DO NOT
SIMPLY LIST THE IDEAS BUT EXPLAIN OR DISCUSS WHY THEY WEE IMPORTANT TO YOU
USING PERSONAL EXAMPLES.
Virtually all the ideas were important but the most important one’s are
the following.
a. Effects of thought on health and body, looking at the holy book like
the holy book will say “faith comes by hearing and by hearing the word of
God” from this I personally deduce that fear, sickness, virus etc comes from
hearing and it is what I allow inside of me that I will return or transform
and will be seen in my attitude and the body.
Experience, I used to believe is the best teacher. At about June
basically during the raining season, I always found myself fallen ill either
with catarrh or cough. In fact it has being a tradition for me every year
because that has being my thinking towards my health. At this period, my
mother often complain because of my confession of cough during that period.
I would say to her that I can perceive it but she will tell me to remove it
from my mind. Sincerely, I don’t understand what she meant by “remove it
from your mind”. Some years back I taught myself to think of strength
instead of sickness and since then I don’t fall ill at the period again. I
barely have ‘cold or cough at the period because I have trained my MIND on
how to think positive than negative.
b. The thought factor in achievement is a true statement because one’s
thinking of can affect one’s achievement in life positively or negatively.
The phrase as a man thinketh in his mind so is he and as he continues to
think so he remains.
My experience was so sad that when I graduated to senior category in my
table-tennis career, I developed the habit of not wanting to loose at all.
This thought is always making me loose because I am always too careful with
balls on the table, which will make me loose eventually. I have always being
thinking that it is not possible for me to get to number one in Nigeria
after gaining admission into the University and till today I am not one
instead moving backward in the ranking because of school which I believe I
would have succeeded, if I had not conceived the negative thought.
Relating it to my academics, I don’t limit myself, I always think that I
can score 100% in which I know if I don’t I will still be on distinctions. I
also don’t believe something is difficult in this life. I don’t run from
challenges, I believe I can do all things. I am always optimistic. For
example in completing my first assessment, I was faced with different
challenges, their was no time at all in school and at home, but I said I
must be part of people excellence since I have the interest and I went out
of my way to make sure I computed and send the assessment. But if I had
negative thinking I would not have being able to achieve my goal.
c. Thought and character. Man is always his master, even in its weakness
and abandoned state. This true-life experience is one that I love to share
with as many that wish to listen. During my late teens, I conceived a
thought that by twenty three years I would love to have a baby whether in or
outside wedlock my conception was well define in thought because all I was
after was the life of the great rap artist that flaunt their having children
outside wedlock.
I never really wanted to have a child before wedlock. These I say to my
friends that I wish to be pregnant at the age of twenty-three and put to bed
twenty four. I said to them I can never abort in my life even if I get
pregnant before marriage. At the age of twenty two, I started going out with
someone which I got pregnant for at twenty three and put to bed at
twenty-four. There was nothing I did not hear, I was humiliated just because
the person that is responsible is not ready and I cannot abort. I had to
carry the pregnancy through my two-hundred level/three hundred level and I
give God the glory that I lam seeing my baby boy now even as I am not
married. In all, thought has a strong hold on character.
Further more if one had conceived in one’s mind to be promiscuous, most
definitely one will exhibit it in one’s character. Even to be a cheat,
starts from conceiving the thought and transforming or exhibiting it in the
character.
2. CAN YOU RELATE THE IDEAS OR CONCEPTS IN THIS BOOK TO YOUR PERSONAL
CIRCUMSTANCES IN LIFE SUCH AS YOUR RELATIONSHIPS YOUR BELIEFS, YOUR GOALS,
YOUR VALUES ETC. PLEASE USE PERSONAL EXAMPLES IN YOUR EXPLANATION.
There are so many conceptions in this book. Like the concept of the
thought, factor in achievement depends on the kind of thought that will
bring about the right kind of achievement. An impure and corrupt thought
will bring about serious descends while an holistic and pure thought will
make a man extend to its pinnacle.
Another concept is visions and ideals. Can you dream, how far can you,
not just merely wishes but dreams with follow up. Accurate development in
the pursuit of the dream will transform one to that place one visualizes for
one self. Most of us cherish visions because it is usually a future
forecast. Serenity is another idea. This talked about the calmness of mind
and one will be like a three that serves as a shade unto others. That is
having a settled mind.
To my goals, I always make sure I am being optimistic in everything I do,
so as to achieve and maintain greatness. Usually when one has a positive
mind about something, chances of having an excellent result will be maximum
but if one is pessimistic the chances of having excellent result will be
minimal.
As the book as a man thinketh so is he is true because, I had a plan of
moving from 2.95 cumulative Grade point to 3.5 and to the glory of God I am
in 3.10 cumulative Grade point now which I believe I will get to 3.5 with
dean of hard work. I finished my first semester examination last week and I
have a positive mind that my Cumulative Grade point will increase
drastically from 3.10 to 3.40 at least. In all, I believe I will get to 3.50
because I have a semester to go.
To my relationship, for relationship to stand a test of time one should
be able to sacrifice some certain things. I have learnt that one should not
think of eating the cake and have it. One should try and be patience, slow
to anger and be honest to have an excellent friendship. To the values on the
other hand, I appreciate my disposition to things and this has always being
making me outstanding in everything I do. I have so much value for life,
because life is all about sacrifice, thought and spirit of maneuvering. In
everything I do I place so which value in it because what is worth doing at
all is worth doing well and this has being given me an edge over my peers.
3. WHAT ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT NEW IDEAS OR CONCEPTS YOU LEARNED FROM
THIS BOOK, PLEASE EXPLAIN
Calmness of mind is one of the beautiful jewel of wisdom. The new
concepts to me is one of the ways a man becomes a strong calm down. The
stages are unbelievable, sensational how man cease to worry, fuse, fume etc.
unto how to adapt himself to others and to govern himself; above all self
control
These stages listed in chapter seven of this book has made a whole new
meaning to my life and I will learn how to put them to practice and perfect
them because practice make perfection. I am the kind of person that believes
in taking things lightly but serious at the same time. I get upset, sad,
rejected because I believe I should always have smooth transaction.
I remember writing a test for employment and after it, I was calm not
minding the result that will come out of it, I excelled more than the other
test have being writing because of my state of mind. Here, my thought
contributed to my achievement. In summary I will learn this chapter the
more, so that I can be the strong calm woman who is like a shoole living
tree.
4. HAS THIS BOOK CHALLENGED YOUR THINKING IN ANYWAY? IF SO EXPLAIN HOW
My reading this book at first was for the assessment sake but as I
continued from chapter to chapter I started seeing myself in every chapter
that I forgot that it is meant for assessment.
In all fairness I studied the book and digested it so that it can benefit
my spiritual, moral and physical life.
The Answer is YES
1. Bringing the chapters together, personally the effect of thought on
circumstances is great. There is a place where sacrifice comes in. if you
desire a great result in your life or a drastic change as a man, you should
be ready to sacrifice that thing that is dearly to you causing pain or
discomfort.
2. You do not get true prosperity by cheating or cutting corners, instead
you are attracting wretchedness to yourself.
3. Good thoughts and actions can never bring about bad result.
4. Furthermore, I learnt that your thought if need be should not be
altered especially those that are right, otherwise things will be altered
against you. if a man’s heart is full of evil most definitely he will be
wicked and pains will be written all over him. In the race of life one must
be ready to keep a clear thought and allow the conscience to be functional
and not dead. Vividly, I remembered keeping a thought that mathematics as a
subject is difficult to understand and I found it difficult in understanding
the basics of the subject. If I had a clean thought towards the subject it
would not have happen that way or as such.
5. ARE THERE IDEAS IN THIS BOOK THAT YOU TOTALLY DISAGREE WITH? IF SO
WHY?
I disagree with the story of the honest poor man and the dishonest rich
man. In the illustration, the author pointed a kind of admirable trait to
the dishonest which can mislead the reaction of the readers somehow.
Especially in the present world today the evil ones are prevailing over the
righteous both in government and private sector.
A reader who is easily influence or controlled can be lured into behaving
the way the dishonest man did that it is, it is okay to cut-corners or
cheat. Where I come from their is nothing like it is not good instead we say
it is bad because depending from the angle in which you are seeing things.
It is not good can still have some good traits while bad can never be good.
6. WHAT DID YOU FIND MOST HELP AND LEAST HELPFUL IN THIS BOOK?
I am able to denote in this book that the road to success is easy and
smooth if only one will be sincere in all his doings. I found out that
cheating one another does not bring breakthrough but reproach. It is better
to go through the normal protocol in one’s dealings instead of cutting
corners.
This book has being helpful a great deal because I used to feel one can
eat the cake and have it. I do not believe in making sacrifices that much
but I now know that for one to achieve what you so desire; one must be ready
to make sacrifice for instance in academics, for one to pass one’s
examination very well you have to invest time, money and energy, one must be
ready to create time and study with discipline from the highest order.
In a nutshell, I find everything helpful and important in this book,
because for one to make it in life one needs good character right thinking,
discipline, experience, good discretion etc.
7. The summary of the whole book is that the body is the servant of the
mind. The thought has an influence on the achievement of an individual. The
book also talked on how it is wise to follow the right way in everything one
does in life. It explained how cheating brings about discomfort and dismay
in one’s life. It also expatiates on the need for the development of the
spirit. The book said it is wonderful and good to know one’s weakness and
one should endeavour to look for solution haven detected the weakness in
order to become a better person in life. It laid emphasis on the thought and
character of an individual and its relativeness to success.
In all the book encourages the readers to strive for success and attain
greatness because the road to success is smooth if only one will be faithful
and sincere in all his doings in life. One should also have control over the
thought or ones thinking because thought has an effect on everything we do.

Jonathan Livingston Seagull
Assessment by Aremu Abosede Oluwaseun (Nigeria)
1. What ideas were personally most important to you in this book. Do not
simply list but explain or discuss why they were important to you using
personal examples.
I am able to denote in this book that practice make perfection. Relating
it to my personal life experience, I never run from challenges; I face
challenges because when you run from challenges one is bound to fail in
life. I have had different challenges in my life because life is not a bed
of roses. I happen to come from a polygamous home and I have being
independent right from twelve years old. As Jonathan Livingston Seagul
continues for success and excellent so also was the way I strive to become
who I am today; and I am still striving because heaven is my limit and not
the sky.
I find it difficult to make ends meet right from age twelve, but I said
to my self that I will make it. I started with the selling of food (Hawking
food) where I will go to school in the morning and hawk jollof rice with
fried meat in the afternoon at the age of twelve. I was making little profit
from the hawking and it is from this profit that I was saving for survival.
I later decided to go into sport so that one day I will become a star and I
will be celebrated all over the world. I started with the game of table
tennis at age thirteen and I was excelling to the extent that clubs started
inviting me. I played my first competition in 1994 which was an under
fourteen in a national competition where I won the title, I later became
famous in the under fourteen and I was promoted to under eighteen, then I
was later invited for a senior competition. In the competition, fourteen
seniors were invited and two juniors were invited in which I was one of the
juniors. These was what I used in getting to the lime light where I defeated
most of the seniors invited. I was still going to school and at the same
time going for training. I started receiving salary and I stopped the
hawking trade. Even as my mates were finding it difficult to learn new
things in the game and I decided that I must explore in the game and also
further my education to the university and even PhD level.
There are so many problems I faced with during my year of practicing
table tennis and going to school. I did not get carried away with the
frivolities attached to the game; but I put up an amour of boldness that I
must read for my exams no matter how many times I failed so that I can get
an admission into the university. I did not also allow the peer influence to
distract my attention when I eventually gain an admission into the
university, I was being faced with different problems but I applied wisdom
with determination and a brave heart. No matter what people say about you,
because you fail to go the same way they are going, just keep your head
straight and be focus. After gaining admission into the university their was
nothing my room mates in school did not say but inspite of all that I still
keep my head straight, but I made sure I was doing well in my academics.
2. Can you relate the concepts or ideas in this book to your personal
circumstances in life such as your relationships, your beliefs, your goals,
your values etc? Please use personal examples in your explanation.
The main ideas in this book is striving for success, getting to greater
height, living to touch perfection, understanding the basics, jeabusy and
maintaining greatness.
It is not an easy thing to achieve greatness and maintain it. Most people
believe in living for today, but I believe in living for today and tomorrow
because he who fails to plan would plan to fail. As it applies in this book
that most birds prefer to eat than to fly. Relating the concept to my
relationship. I do not get myself into a relationship because of luxury but
I get into a relationship if there is prospect in it but not necessarily has
to be measured in terms of material things. I believe going into a
relationship with either male or female will not stand a test of time if it
is profit oriented.
I do not feel limited to a particular field. I believe in exploration. I
don't feel inferior among my peers because when one does, the ability to
acquire greatness will be slim. I believe there is nothing I can't do, even
if others sees it to be difficult through Jesus Christ that strengthens me.
I find it difficult in replying my assessment not just because I don't want
to but any time I am set to do it, their is always an obstacle but I forced
myself to remove all the obstacles, for example there is a particular course
I took in my year three that my course mates sees to be difficult to
understand, but with perseverance and hard work, I excel in the course. The
courses are kinesiology conditioning and physiology but I give God the glory
that I got five point each.
To my goals, I intend studying law, but after sitting for the entrance
examination a couple of times that I did not make the cut-off mark, I
decided to opt for Human Kinetics and Health Education. All things being
equal, hope is not lost, I still intend studying law after my first degree.
Maintaining greatness is another concept that most people find difficult to
contend with. After I became champion in my under fourteen and under
eighteen category, I did not let it get to my head but immediately I started
playing senior category I started loosing concentration and before I know I
lost interest in practicing as I used to. I later found out that it really
affect my being able to maintain the greatness. Tolerance, submissiveness,
perseverance, patience are the words that has being helping me.
3. What are the most important new ideas or concepts you learned from
this book? Please explain.
The new idea I learnt from this book is to be vigilant so as to know when
distraction is at work, that is one should be watchful and mindful of what
one does when at the top and when trying to get to the top.
Finding solution to problems is another new idea and not getting turned
at little challenges. Cultivating the habit of diligence, perseverance and
being discipline. That no knowledge is lost and listening to corrects will
help in great deal in achieving success.
Another idea is kindness and love, I learnt to affect others positively
and be ready to impact knowledge get into others that are less priviledge.
4. Has this book challenged or changed your thinking in any way? If so,
explain how?
Yes, it has challenged my thinking in different ways. I know that the way
to greatness is smooth if only one will be hardworking and persevere in
life. One should be ready to learn from other peoples experiences and not
only from one's own experience. It has changed my opinion towards my table
tennis carrier, I have said to myself before that I can't play professional
because of financial constraints but I now know that I can still play
professional table tennis with or without finance.
I have learnt not to relent in achieving my goals in life that if am able
to break the chain of my thought. I will be able to break the chain of the
body.
5. Are there ideas in the book that you totally disagree with? If so why?
No
6. What did you find most helpful and least helpful in this book?
I find the word of encouragement most helpful using the story of the
gulls.
Giving different steps in achieving greatness and maintaining it the book
also explains different ways through which one can make his money to be
friends. The act of feeling proud and looking down on others is also
discouraged.
According to this book the more people talk negative things about you,
the more the progress one should try and attain. One should try and be
outstanding and stand out in every thing one does because what is worth
doing at all is worth doing well.
7. In 50 words or less please describe the main idea the whole book is
trying to convey.
The book is trying to explain that everyone can be great provided one is
willing and ready to learn new things and adhere to instructions. That one
should listen to correction so that one can forge ahead and be successful.
The book explain that practice make perfection. That one will get to the top
if one is able to break the chain of the mind then one will be able to break
the chain of the body and resist the temptation that will give room to
laziness.
The book portrays two set of people, one set is ready to practice to
perfection while the other group is not ready to suffer for excellence. That
the second set is not ready to pay any price for achieve greatness. The book
explains that one is bound to be faced with different, obstacle and the road
to success is not smooth but one should not relent nor give up. The book
outline various ways through which one can get to the top.
Please rate the following questions on a scale from 1 to 10. Ten is good

The New Dynamics of Winning
Assessment by Aremu Abosede Oluwaseun (Nigeria)
1. What ideas were personally most important to you in this book? Do not
simply list the ideas, but explain or discuss why they were important to
you, using personal examples.
So many things were personally most interesting to me like what it takes
to be a winner. The book explained in depth to me what I can do to become a
champion. I am made to understand that if one wants to be a champion, one
has to think like a champion. I have a notion of what a champion should
undergo but the book has shed more light on the things I need to do to
achieve my goal and attain greatness. I have added to my knowledge that for
me to become a champion I must have the traits of a champion I must be able
to focus my mind for excellence. That is I should be able to focus my mind
for peak performance anywhere, anytime.
I have actually been doing that in everything I found myself doing both
in school and my sporting career. The book also shed more light on the fact
that paying the price prepares one for success.
Relating this to school I understand and found it very interesting to
prepare ahead of what ever I want to do because what is worth doing at all
is worth doing well. In my personal experience with life, lets take for
example, if one does not plan ahead one will definitely fail, because he who
fail to plan, has definitely plan to fail.
Therefore, paying the price prepares one for success. For example I
prepared for a particular competition for one year, practicing morning and
evening, closing doors to all social activities and focusing on how to
achieve greatness in the competition.
Then, I train twenty hours out of twenty four hours, I don’t even sleep and
even when I am sleeping I don’t sleep well because my mind is already set
for the tournament. I think that was the competition that brought me to the
lime light in the senior category; I really performed beyond reasonable
doubt and everybody marveled at my performance. I think the only thing that
discouraged me is the fact that I lost concentration since their was no
motivation and the love of money instead of interest in the game.
The book also made me to understand that you choose what you want to be
in life; whether you want to be an achiever or a follower that champions are
Born Losers are unmade.
Have always had and internal value because that is number one thing one
must have. One should first of all believe in oneself before starting any
project. Genuine love for whatever one does and not for the money involved
should be taken into consideration. It is obvious that if one participate in
something or a project for the love of money and not personal interest it
will not stand a test of time. Yes it is true because at first I had a
passion for table-tennis but it got to a stage in my life that I needed to
sponsor myself in everything I do and I began to put money sentiment into
it.
Whenever I am going for a competition, I am always thinking of the money
involved and even when I am playing a match I think of the money. It is so
sad that I allowed myself to be engrossed with the love of money over my
talent. I realized as I was reading the book, The New Dynamics of Winning.
2. Can you relate the ideas or concepts in this book to your personal
circumstances in life such as your relationships, your beliefs, your goals,
your values etc? please use personal examples in your explanation?
The ideas in the book The New Dynamics of Winning is unlimited. Some of
the ideas I will relate to my personal circumstances are
1. Paying the price
2. The drive to win
3. The Olympian within
4. Fame, fortune and integrity
5. Visualization of victory
6. Self confidence and self transformation
7. Strength through mental toughness to mention few.
Relating the idea paying the price to my personal life experience. I am
paying the price of becoming a great person and been wanting to be
versatile. As an undergraduate in the University of Lagos I am paying the
price to be given a degree certificate by spending four years in the
University with hard work.
Furthermore, I am paying the price in my day to day activities to become
somebody in life by being hardworking. One could also pay the price for what
one had caused. I payed the price of devoting my time for reading the new
Dynamics of winning, to answer and add to my reservoir of knowledge.
I have made sacrifice for so many things I achieved today. That is I have
payed the price for been in the University today. I wrote different
examinations at different times in order for me to gain admission into the
university. Buying of change of course form, transport, feeding is part of
the price paid to pass my examination. It is certain that when one paid the
price, and do the right thing at the right time most definitely one will get
the gold and not the silver nor the bronze.
The second idea in this book is the drive to win. As related to my
personal circumstances. I have a mind set of a champion because I know I am
a star and I am a success to my generation. For the fact that I have this
mindset everything I want or plans is always coming to past and reality. I
don’t believe their is something I can’t do, I don’t see myself as a failure
or never do well. So I prefer to try something and fail than not to try or
attempt it at all; and when I fall I will stand up and try again. By trying
again I am always excelling. I had an encounter with a particular girl in my
under Eighteen category. It happens that anytime we meet in the
competitition, she is always beating or defeating me. Though I am always
feeling bad but their was nothing I could do than to learn from my mistakes
and perfect my strokes.
I did these and I was able to defeat her in our next match. If I do not
have the mind of a champion I would have given up that I can’t defeat her
but instead I put on an armour of boldness that I am a winner and I can do
it and I did it.
The third idea is the Olympian within. What this is talking about is that
if one has a project that involves different spheres of life, one should
endeavour to prepare for four years or years before the actual day.
Fine, there is always a talent but one must build on the talent to be the
best relating the Olympian within to my personal life circumstances, I will
use my academic career as an example, there is an Olympic within me but in
as much as I do not prepare or train the sport within by studying for the
exam, my best can never be seen, but if I study so hard and even burn candle
when there is no light means I am paying the price and Olympian within will
be sound and I will have an excellent result on merit. I always prepare
ahead of my examination and I am always having a good result. Building an
Olympian within is another key point that will lead one to his destination
and achieve a success after paying the price by building the Olympian
within.
The fourth is fame, fortune and integrity. These three words are very
important in ones life. Most especially when one is striving for greatness
and after one must have achieved the greatness. Yes, I have had fame in my
own little way, fortune yes and integrity yes. It is very easy to get these
three points but maintaining it is the problems. When I started having the
fame and fortune, I had already built the integrity to a point. I did not go
to the University at the right time. I finished my college education at
seventeen and I played away four years before getting an admission into the
University because I was enjoying fame and fortune and I felt I will go and
play professional table tennis but I thank God I realized that there is need
for me to go to University in time. I thank God I did not spoil my integrity
when the fame was on as well, because good name is better than gold and
silver. It is very important to have the fear of God because when one is
having fame and fortune at the same time it is dangerous.
I have experience visualization of victory because whenever I am
preparing for something, I am always viewing it that I am going to excel. My
dream began when I was twelve years old, watching an Olympic and All Africa
Games Championship on the television. I saw a lady from Nigeria playing in
the all Africa Games and their was so much fame ascribe to her. Immediately
I felt I can do what she is doing, that I have gotten the talent and the
following week I started going for training because I also want to have
fame, fortune and integrity. I started like that and I played so many
competitions but my dream, to my vision is yet to be fulfilled because I
have not been to the Olympics. I still have the desire to feature in the
Olympics. I still have the burning desire after my degree or during my
master’s degree. I lost courage of continuing to play table-tennis in
Nigeria after I lost in the trials for the all Africa games and I opted to
go to the University.
Self confidence and self transformation is another idea. I have always
had confidence in myself. Their was neither job, nor money with my parent. I
came from a poor family where had to look for what to eat, wear and sleep
individually and come together as a family. I had confidence in myself and I
transform myself into an entrepreneur and device work that will be bringing
in money for me before I started playing table-tennis I am always having
confidence when training and during competition. I assimilate fast and learn
fast so I have always been excelling even in school. Sometime I don’t read
or study until one week before the examination and I will do excellently
well because I am very fast at learning and assimilating. I am also
pro-active and self confidence in all my dealings.
In all the ideas here, I embrace the fact that, to be a champion, one
must have the following.
* I am responsible by the value in which I live
* My body, my mind and spirit I live to excel. I am worthy of happiness and
success as anyone else and nothing is impossible to achieve in live.
3. What are the most important new ideas you learned from this book?
Please explain.
The most important ideas I learnt are the following; self worth and self
trust
The five fundamentals of self esteem
Ten self-affirming beliefs
The book explain that one must believe that, one is worth of happiness
and success as anyone you are worthy in your own way, regardless of how you
may feel different from others.
That, one must learn self trust, which is the ability to feel positive,
responsible and in control of what takes place as you try to test your
limits.
Apparently, the five fundamentals of self esteem is another good idea I
really appreciate in the book that one should be aware that self esteem, or
the lack of it, is at the root of all behaviour, both positive and negative.
There is nothing like self esteem because it is inevitable; most definitely
one will be spending most of the time with one self.
Self esteem is made up of self worth and self trust. Self worth is simply
the feeling of being glad with one self. Self trust is the functional belief
in your own ability positively and effectively to control what happens to
you in a world of uncertainty.
One should realize that no opinion and no judgment is so vitally
important to your own growth and development as that which you hold of
yourself. I am able to denote that the most important meeting, conversation,
briefings and lectures one will ever have, are those that one hold in the
privacy of one’s mind.
That no eyes will ever critique a video of you, a photo of you, a
reflection of you in a stone window or a full length view of you in the
mirror as you step out of the shower, as sharply and critically as your own
years. That one should make effort to feel good about one’s physical
appearance including how you look, talk, think and dress. That if one does
not feel good about those things one should take control and make amend by
making changes.
Lastly, you can be your own worst enemy or your own best friend. Realize
that once and for all, you hold the key to your personal success and
happiness even failure.
I also embrace the ten affirming principles which are:
* Control of thoughts. I control my thoughts, emotions, actions and I
direct them to improve the quality of my health, my relationships, my work
and my life.
* I am a good valuable and worthy person.
* I am fully capable of achieving the goals that I set for myself today.

4. Has this book challenge or change your thinking in anyway? If so
explain.
Yes, it has challenge and change my thinking. I used to think I can’t go
back to the table – tennis circle since I have left for sometime, but having
read this book I now have a change of heart.
I also feel I can’t study law as a profession again but I am challenged
with different examples and illustration of different great people in the
book. I really enjoyed my reading the book.
Furthermore, I have always been feeling that it’s taken so long for me to
achieve what I already set for myself in five years ago and I am beginning
to get discouraged that all my effort has been in vain. But now I am having
a change of heart that I will definitely overcome my predicaments.
The book has really challenged my thinking faculty because there are so
many things that can enhance my fulfilling my vision which I am not taken
cognizance of.
At a point in my life, even as I am writing this I am been humiliated by the
members of my family that at twenty-five what have I achieved. I am weeping
as I am writing this because they are actually frustrating me but thanks to
the inspiring book THE NEW DYNAMIC OF WINNING. I am having a change of heart
by believing in myself that I am intelligent wonderful, beautiful, full of
charisma and enthusiasm and above all I know I am a GENIUS and I am born to
be great nothing henceforth will make me cry.
5. Are there ideas in the Book that you totally disagree with?
No
6. What did you find most helpful and least helpful in this book?
I found all the points broken down into chapters very helpful and
interesting. Every word in the book “The New Dynamic of Winning is soul
lifting. I think this book is actually meant for people like us; that is,
somebody like me that is not born with a silver spoon. At times I regret
been in my family because no one cares, one is independent from teenager.
The book is excellent it is full of inspiring words. The book actually
outlines different steps one needs to go through to have a smooth road to
ones destination.
7. In 50 words or less, explain what the book is trying to convey.
The book is trying to convey that you become what you want to be by
yourself. That in everything one does, one must first of all have
self-esteem and self worth. That is one must first of all acknowledge who he
is. The book outlines different principles of life that enhance chances of
attaining greatness. The book expatiates on the good side and the bad side
of life. The book also outlines the self destructive beliefs.
Hitherto, the book made me to understand that I have little or no ability
to change my feelings towards the things that happen to me, because they are
caused by external pressures. That I am a Victim of Circumstances and
further explain that they are devastating, negating beliefs. In all I should
honour my internal dialogue. I know I can, be what I want to be, if I work
hard enough, I will be where I want to be which I am willing and ready to do
because I want to be great I am tired of the oppressors.

Success Through A Positive Mental Attitude
Assessment by Aremu Abosede Oluwaseun (Nigeria)
1) What ideas were personally most interesting to you in this book? Do
not simply list the ideas but explain or discuss why they were important to
you, using personal examples.
Whao! This is amazing. I am fascinated with the word we are poor not
because of God. Yes that is true because God never does bad things.
According to the scriptures, God said his thinking for us is of good and not
of evil, therefore it is God’s happiness for us to be a winner and excelling
in everything we lay our hands on because God Himself is never a looser but
a winner.
The idea of you having to take a bold step in life is excellent in the
book. I have done that at one point in my life to hawk food for survival. I
took the bold step even as I was always looked at with disdain but at the
end of the day it pays off, even though it was not as big as S. B. Fuller
achievement but I was still able to send myself to school, clothe and feed
before I took another step of building and appreciating my career. I took
the bold step at age thirteen when I would walk 60 km to the training ground
daily. As time goes on I became a star in my category and I was comfortably
taken care of myself through school. The biggest mistake I made then was
that I did not invest my returns at all. I later realize it is wonderful,
judicious, and reasonable to invest for future purposes.
The book Success through a positive mental attitude illustrated different
true-life story of able and disable people who at one point in their life
was nothing and today they are something because they have self-esteem.
I never thought I could join not to talk of cope with the global
leadership school but I am doing fine now because I believe I am equal to
the task. I have acknowledge who I am before accepting to fill the form and
join the leadership school it is this easy for me to study and answer the
assessment given because I believe and have confidence in myself.
Another idea that I found very interesting is the principles one could
apply or drawn from Tom Dempsey story which are been able to think of
achieving high goals. That is, greatness comes to those who develop a
burning desire to achieve high goals.
I have the burning desire to be a great person, acquire all I can to be
comfortable and affect others positively in life. I sat down one day and
thought of what I could do to be great and I said to myself that a journey
of a thousand mile starts with a step. So, I decided to go in a long-term
investment in 2004, which is the stock business. I saved some money from
where I was working then to purchase a public offer shares and today it has
appreciated.
The second idea that I embraced too is that success is achieved and
maintained by those who try and keep on trying with PMA. In 2006, another
public offer came out that everybody around me discouraged me of purchasing
because of the one I purchased in 2005 that did not really appreciate but I
said to myself that how do I succeed if I don’t try and I did and its paying
me off now so it is true that success is achieved and maintained by those
who try and keep on trying with positive mental attitude.
Another idea is that practice make perfection. That for one to become an
expert achiever, it takes practice…. practice…practice. That effort and work
can be fun when you establish specific desirable goals. The main idea in
this book is that one should always think big and work towards it. Don’t
feel inferior of yourself.
2) Can you relate the ideas or concepts in this book to your personnel
circumstances in life such as your relationships, your beliefs, your goals,
your values etc? Please use your personnel examples.
I happen to be very industrious. I am always thinking positive and each
time I do this any organization or anywhere I am is always in good
condition. This is a true-life experience of where I worked before now. It
happens to be a one-man business enterprise. I started with the owner when
there was nothing and today the company is big. What I am saying in essence
is that I contributed in a great deal because I was the personal assistant
and a counselor. I am always advising my boss when business was not in good
condition. I am always thinking of possible strategies to use in moving the
organization to the higher level. It got to a point in the history of the
organization that we almost fold up but I advise my boss that we should try
one of the business tricks. “Buy one get one free”. We did this for one
month and we regain our money and still have customers.
After one month we decided to stop and increase the quality of our
product plus the price and in three months our turnover was marvelous.
Hence, I am able to denote that there is power in positive mental attitude.
I resigned from the organization because it was taken so much of my time but
before I resigned I left a positive trace of myself in the organization that
they will never forget.
Relating this to another experience is to my relationship. I am always
having a positive mental attitude towards my relationship with people
because what is worth doing at all is worth doing well. In this sense always
make sure I put the next person into consideration, be more concern about
the matters that is most precious and hurting. I always try to be these when
I am needed in my relationship.
To my beliefs, values and goals, it is the positive thinking that will
make one and that has been making my beliefs, values and goals cogent and
meaningful. I belief one’s destiny is in his hand. It now depends on how you
take hold of your life. I belief you can be whatever you want to be if you
work towards it. I also belief one must have a missing vision and then work
hard to achieve the set out goals in life.
Hitherto, the most interesting idea is the one that says you should set
out goal for yourself and work towards it, that it is not God’s wish for us
to be poor. One is definitely going to face challenges like I am facing in
my life but I have positive mental attitude that once I do the right at the
right time I will attain greatness and maintain it.
3) What are the most important new ideas or concepts you learned from
this book? Please explain
One of the new ideas I learned from the book Success through a positive
mental attitude is that we are poor not because of God, that if we search
for the light we will definitely get it. Before now, I always feel if one is
poor God knows about it. There is this myth or what one is meant believe
that if evil befall one that God deliberately allow it to happen and that if
one is poor God wants it like that, I now know that whoever is poor is poor,
not because of God.
Another idea is that for one to be great and successful, one should first
of all clear the cobwebs from one’s thinking. Clearing cobweb from one’s
thinking simply means one should not have mixed feelings, one should be
optimistic, one should have a positive mental attitude and one should expect
anything, that way, one will not be disappointed. It is known about we live
in a strange and fast moving world therefore one should be upright,
steadfast up and doing and truthfulness.
Another idea I found very important and useful is learning to see. That
is learning from other people’s mistake. Try and view, watch other people’s
abilities, capacities, viewpoint and capabilities. One should not be too
full of oneself. One should not be too proud and one should be ready to
listen to correct and learn from others.
How to motivate oneself is another great idea I found interesting in the
book success through a positive mental attitude. The ten possible ways one
can motivate oneself is outlined how one should rebuff negative thinking and
cultivate the habit of been happy at all times.
I also know or learn more about a success formula that always succeed
when applied. The secret of getting things done is another idea, I really
appreciate. I am able to denote that one can actually mix business with
pleasure if done wisely and at the right time.
Awaken the sleeping giant within an individual or the last but not the
least of the ideas I found interesting. I also discover I am great that I
have this thing deposited inside of me to make me great that the only thing
I need is to dig through my mind and be great.
4) Has this book challenged or changed your thinking in any way? If so
explain how?
I now realize that one can actually be saving little by little even if it
is hundred Naira (N100) per day, it is something, the penny one is saving
can actually by a firm or a company and this will lead to the beginning of
one’s greatness that I don’t have to want till when is five hundred Naira
(N500); that this is the time to start saving.
It has always been my dream to travel to the United Kingdom or United
States of America for my masters but I have always been feeling it’s not
possible because I don’t have money to sponsor myself.
I now have a change of heart that I can and will be there if I start
saving now, I have a change of heart now that I can still study abroad for
my second degree if I am up and doing with perseverance.
I am also challenged, having read through different through life
experiences of others, that means I will make it too if am focused with the
positive mental attitude.
My greatest priority now is how to get an admission and do my masters in
the United Kingdom or United State and I am challenged that I can be there
if I want to. Thanks to the book, “Success Through A Positive Mental
Attitude” you have rekindle my dream.
5) Are there ideas you totally disagree with? If so why?
Yes, the idea of one saving and getting a loan or lending from somebody
is not applicable in my country.
Our own economy does not support that, in fact one cannot purchase
something and be pay installmentally. Not to talk of getting a loan from the
bank without tangible collateral. Our economy is so bad that the rich people
are not ready to assist the poor not even the government is ready to
encourage the youth. One is just striving to make good things happen.
6) What did you find most helpful and least helpful in this book?
To be honest, I found every point outlined in the book: “Success Through
A Positive Mental Attitude” helpful.
The following are the points I found most helpful:
a) You can change your world
b) You are poor not because of God
c) Clear the cobwebs from your mind or thinking
d) Learn to see
e) secret of getting things done
f) How to motivate yourself and others
g) How to find satisfaction in your job
h) How to raise your energy level
i) How one can enjoy good health and live longer
In all I found all the points broken down into chapters interesting and
helpful most especially for an upcoming like myself. I welcome myself to
successful peoples club having read the book: “Success Through A Positive
Mental Attitude”. It is inspirational and a dream come true.
7) In 50 words or less, please describe the main idea the whole book it’s
trying to convey
The book: “Success Through A Positive Mental Attitude” is trying to
convey the following point: That we can be great if we so desire. That we
are poor not because of God. It also made me to understand that I change my
world that I am born a champion. The book outline seventeen principles of
success. That everyone has many talents for surmounting his special
problems.
I am also made to understand that positive mental attitude attracts
wealth. The book made me to understand that when and how to recharge my
battery to raise my energy level. In all, the book is trying to convey
different ways and steps to acknowledge, in achieving greatness and be
successful.

Psycho Cybernetics
Assessment by Aremu Abosede Oluwaseun (Nigeria)
1. What ideas were personally most important to you in this books?
There are so many ideas outlined with examples in the book
psycho-cybernetics 2000.
Your self image and how it affects you is one of the great ideas I am made
to understand the lack of self esteem is central to most personal and social
ills plaguing our state and nation therefore their need to look into
developing, valuing and appreciating our self image. That, no matter how we
look, we should not give ourselves self defeat but be optimistic and be self
confident. That way, one will have a good personality and the road to
success will be smooth. But if the reverse is the case, chances are that one
might never reach the target destination nor achieve the set goals. Relating
the case of John and Laura. I am able to extract so many facts from their
story. I learnt that one should not be cynical, that one should not kill the
giant inside but allow the giant be at work by believing in one’s ability
and capability. That one should be ready to face challenges and not run or
dodge challenges.
Furthermore relating to self-image and how it affects us. Maltz wrote that
each of us carries a mental blueprint or picture of ourselves, that it may
be vague and ill defined to our conscious gaze even, it may not be
consciously recognizable at all. To this extent I have learnt that there is
nothing I cannot do, that I am equal to the task provided I have a positive
mental attitude with my self image.
Moreso, the key to better life is another idea I found very important and
interesting because I have been looking for the key to a better life, so
that I can have one. I really enjoy the illustration under it and not only
do I enjoyed it but also gained and add to my knowledge. I am so happy that
I am opportune to be in the Global leadership school because this knowledge
is worth more than millions; and no knowledge is lost.
Six steps to success is another idea I found very delightful. Why do I say
delightful? Because it was further broken down into sub topics. The six sub
topics throw more light into the steps to success.
The following are the topics.
Program yourself to success: under this, I am able to understand that in
everything one does in this life the whole of yourself must be unwhole. That
the body, spirit and mind must be involve. I am so happy reading this
because I used to have the problem of lack of concentration, not putting the
whole of me when engaging in an activity sometimes. I now know, haven read
this, I will no longer involve half of me in whatever I am doing but the
whole of me well programmed positively. I am able to denote that the human
brain is an automatic guidance system. That it can either be a success
mechanism or a failure mechanism. That it all depends on the target our
thinking mind establishes for it and on the way it responds to its own
errors. As in, the brain must be functioning well at all times. That the
brain must be at alert to respond to every stimuli correctly at every point
in time.
Imagine your way to success. Is this not encouraging? Yes it is, because if
one can imagine success, one will definitely achieve success. The book
psycho-cybernetics also throws more light to imagining one’s way to success.
It said through one’s creative imagination, one can create images of success
that by incorporation into yourself image can be turned into actual success.
Effective picturisation of a future project positively and taking a right
step at the right time will become reality and something worthwhile.
Relax and turn stress into success is another sub topic that I am just
learning; to be sincere. In as much as I go through stress daily, I still
don’t see it as success because I am always feeling bad that why me. But I
think I have a solution haven read the book psycho-cybernetics 2000. I am
able to know that relaxation is the key to achieving greatness by been able
to activate our creative imagination and that is the only state in which the
servomechanism can work properly. It is really true that most of us have no
idea on how to relax. The way I used to respond to events in my day-to-day
activity has always been an increased stressed. Fine, I no about exercise
and how it is useful to the health but I never apply it when going through
stress.
Set Goals: A pre-requisite to success. Enhancing ones self-image is not an
end in itself. If one does not have worthwhile personal goals one will
definitely conclude that life itself is not worthwhile. It is only by
establishing specific and attainable goals that we turn our servomechanism
into a success mechanism.
Using negative feedback toward success is another idea that is very
interesting that, once you have established goals, which your internal
guidance system kicks in. But again, it is yourself image that determines
whether or not you remain locked on target. People whose self-image is
positive found it easy to develop and nurture the success type personality.
There is an acronym for success and failure as illustrated in the book that
is very interesting.
S - Sense of Direction
U - Understanding
C - Courage
C - Charity
E - Esteem
S - Self-confidence
S - Self-acceptance
F - Frustration
A - Aggressiveness
I - Insecurity
L - Loneliness
U - Uncertainty
R - Resentment
E - Emptiness
Whao: This analysis is beautiful. Disinhibit your personality and fuel
success is totally a new topic for me. I really don’t know how to control my
emotions like that but I think to an extent now I can control both present
and future emotions clearly without having to go through emotional trauma.
I am also encouraged with the sub-topic that says become who you want to be.
In all, the entire book is very inspirational, full of knowledge and a bulk
of spirit filled words.
2. Can you relate the ideas or concepts in this book to your personal
circumstances in life such as your relationships, beliefs, goals and values?
Please use personal examples.
My relationship, values, beliefs and goals have always been fair. I deal
with others the way I will want others to do to me.
To my relationship I do belief I can do all things through Christ Jesus that
strengthens me. I do really see myself as success and I always try to affect
others positively for example there is this investment company in my country
that I have the link and I try as much as I can to introduce my friends to
it because it pay off. I don’t look down on myself or on my relationship. I
believe moving with somebody that we have the same perspective about life if
not all but at least 70% must get along. I always try to improve on my
personality and my self image and esteem. I believe in my relationship so
much that I don’t allow it to be drag in the mud.
Relating relationship in another dimension like having relationship with
elder people. One thing have come to realize is that old and influential
people tend to weigh an individual before getting close and placing you in
the high pyramid.
As I have denoted this, I always try not to underrate myself but try to be
reasonable.
To my beliefs, one thing that is very important is the fact that one has to
be able to adapt with situations around. As in, other people have their
beliefs too, so therefore one should be willing and ready to learn from
others, which I do and I can see it in the book psycho-cybernetics 2000 that
is very important. Fine, one must have self-esteem and image but at the same
time one should be ready to reason with others.
One of the concepts in the psycho-cybernetics that I found very help
relating to beliefs is disinhibit your personality and feel success.
Furthermore “you really can create change is another idea that I found very
helpful relating to ones beliefs. Five steps to a new self-image are another
concepts that I found very helpful.
Sometimes, one tends to have wrong beliefs about life and such beliefs can
sometimes inhibit success. Feeling of inadequacy, unworthiness or guilt may
spring from false beliefs.
Like I said we sometimes do have wrong beliefs and this lead us to
unfulfilling end. I am very delighted that I am opportune to read
psycho-cybernetics 2000. It has really changed some of my beliefs. What I
think is not easy to achieve is now easy.
There are so many things I engage in these days that I don’t do before
because of my beliefs; but ever since I started reading psycho-cybernetics
2000 my life as never remain the same. Thanks to Global leadership school.
To my goals now, since have been able to change some of my beliefs my set
goals have been working out one after the other. Have been able to map out
strategies in achieving these set goals.
Three ways to make New Memories Last, Targeting on Ideas, Set your own
targets, Stress: Private enemy number one, use relaxation to oil your
success mechanism. How relaxation sparks creative insight, How to visualize
stress away, the pioneer of laughter, Stress Prevention to mention few. The
above listed concepts or ideas have really helped me in achieving my set
goals since have been reaching psycho-cybernetic 2000. Turn stress into
success is another great and wonderful concepts I can’t forget.
The questionnaire set out in the book has done a great job.
Value is another great thing because for you to do anything important and
reasonable one must first of all value it weigh it and what the value is.
Psycho-cybernetics as thrown more light in the different ways at which one
will value something. I am so happy that my level of valuing things has
changed. Don’t loose sight of your goals, targeting on ideas, fix ways to
maximize your progress, so seeds when you experience set back are some of
the concepts that I found interesting relating to values and in all
ramification.
3. What are the important new ideas you learnt from this book? Please
explain
I cannot mention all the new ideas I extracted from the book:
Psycho-cybernetic 2000. Virtually, all the ideas are very important,
educating and inspirational. I will just explain some of the ideas I found
most helpful to me.
Turning New Memories into Positive Behaviour. Yeah, here I am meant to
understand that I should try and forget old beliefs whenever I found myself
rummating over thoughts that will bring nothing but trouble. Unrealistic of
unworthy of success thinking. That I should try and replace old beliefs with
positive constructive self-thoughts. That I should say to myself I am a
worthy, pragmatic, competent person. I work well with people in authority
and I deserve success and happiness. That after having the new conviction I
can now write messages to myself placing them where I will be able to read
them several times each day.
That I should create new memories that will bring about my been successful.
In all, I should belief in my new thinking. How my positive beliefs can
further my self-esteem is another good and interesting concepts. How to
overcome my built in resistance to change, four steps to creating new
memories is very helpful because I can now have a new thinking. I am made to
understand that I should view my old beliefs and negative memories as if
they belong to another time and place i.e. another life. Elicit them from my
right brain to visualize the old memory as though it were at the end of a
long tunnel and gradually fading away into darkness. That I should see it
diminishing I should set fifteen minutes for visualization. During these
fifteen minutes, I should imagine how I would alter old memory. Create a
videotape of my new memory in my mind. I should see myself as successfully
completing a task; see someone complimenting me on my new achievement; I
should see myself accepting their praises with grace, sincerity and
humility.
My oh my I am happy that I am getting ways of creating new memories. That I
should consciously accept this new memory as the trace one. Affirm
repeatedly that I accept this future memory as a fact. Remembering my
subconscious mind will eventually come to view it as if it actually
happened. The three ways in making new memories last is another great idea.
Here, I am meant to understand that as I feel my new beliefs is taking hold,
that there may be a tendency of slacking off a little on diligence, that I
should not make mistake.
I should try and program my dreams by focusing on my new beliefs as I go to
sleep. That I should try and reminisce on the problem while in bed as the
old saying “take a problem to bed and sleep on it!”. This directly addresses
my subconscious mind and helps install the new images in my right brain.
That I should program my day dream every time I catch myself dwelling on a
negative memory or past mistake. I should cancel and redirect my day
dreaming towards positive images that support my new beliefs.
I should go about my daily life with an attitude regarding my new belief
system. I should remember to my subconscious mind. How relaxation as helped
save a friendship, how relaxation can keep me healthy, a key to reflective
learning, the gate way to learning, how relaxation can change the way I
perceive myself, Zen breathing, the radiant light to mention few.
4. Has this book challenged or change your thinking in anyway if so how?
Yes, the book has challenge and changes my thinking in so many ways. I have
never heard of Zen breathing in my life until when I read the
Psycho-cybernetic 2000 book. After reading about Zen breathing I tried it
and it worked for me.
Secondly, I never knew the power of relaxation. I never really take out time
to relax the way one should, since I have been reading inspirational books.
But I followed it step by step as outlined in the psycho cybernetic book and
it worked for me.
Setting out goals and different ways of maintaining it is another idea that
challenge and change my thinking. The power of laughter as really challenged
me because I don’t laugh often, I smile but now I can see the power of
laughter. Instead of me smiling, I laugh. That is quiet very helpful.
Don’t loose sight on goals is another idea I like so much because if one
loose focus on the set goals, there will be problem. How to put my success
mechanism to work. I have learnt more ideas or more ways of achieving
greatness and maintaining it. I am made to understand that learning on
procrastination will do nothing but harm. That I should try and cancel my
realizations for procrastination. I should replace my realizations and
excess with positive goal oriented statements.
Affirm myself image as a task oriented person who moves forcefully towards
my goal. Focus on images of myself in fulfillment of my goal. Train myself
by taking positive action. Furthermore, I now have more hints on tips in
focusing on my action plan.
I am made to understand that I should reserve a few minutes each weekend to
list things I would do in furtherance of my goal during the coming week. I
should make appointments with myself to spend at least ten or fifteen
minutes everyday working on some aspect of my plan: making job contacts,
practicing new skills, researching and reading appropriate articles, that is
my calendar or daily planner and honor them as I would do to any commitment.
Take note of my progress. Review my calendar weekly as evidence that I am
actually doing something in pursuit of my goal and this way, success is fast
approaching.
Setting up a self-monitoring system is another idea that challenge and
changed my thinking.
5. Are there ideas in the book that you totally disagree with? If so why?
No.
6. What did you found most helpful and least helpful in this book?
Ah, I am stuck for words because if found everything helpful and
interesting. I will list some of the ideas I found most helpful because I
cannot list all.
Don’t loose sight of your goals, tranquilizer to cushion emotional blows,
turn stress into success, building a sturdy foundation, develop an action
plan for your goals, the read to success (six ways of maximize your
progress), enhancing self-image for personal fulfillment, approach learning
as a life long process, adjust to changes in my family life, understanding
the art of two-way communication, develop respect for diversity, acknowledge
my worth, drawing my picture of success, practice forgiveness, own up to my
clitiches, five techniques for keeping my personality cilitches free, how to
free my personality from inhibition, becoming the master planner of my life,

Giant Steps
Assessment by Aremu Abosede Oluwaseun (Nigeria)
1. What ideas were personally most important to you in the book? Do not
simply list the ideas, but explain or discuss why they were important to
you, using personal examples.
Virtually all the points were personally most interested too me. The book
Giant Steps by Anthony Robbins really shed more light to dark areas in my
life. It makes me to be reasoning more logical. As it is broken into daily
lessons makes it very easy and interesting to assimilate and apply to daily
life. The book rejuvenate my dreams as it explains that we all have dreams,
that deep down our souls we have a special gift that can make a difference,
that touch peoples life in a special way and that can make the world a
better place. Even if one does not have a dream or has but it seems is not
working, one should take a moment now just to dream again and to think about
what one really want in life. Fine, it is very possible that one will dream
and try to follow it up but to no avail. I am meant to understand that it's
not what we do once that matters or counts but consistency of the act
counts. That, the father of all actions and what ultimately determines who
we become and where we go in life is our decisions. It is when we make and
stands on decisions that one's destiny shaped; this is a fantastic and a
wonderful point I cherish. It is a great thing for one to gather or create
an unstoppable momentum because it will definitely lead to an undeniable
reality. Making a decision and been committed will help achieve greatness
and be successful in every ways with discipline and perseverance. It is hard
to take decision sometimes as it seems that all doors are closed therefore,
in this sense if one can, it will lead to joy. Success is the result of good
judgement. Good judgement is the result of experience and experience is the
result of bad judgement in most cases. That one should try and look at the
past mistakes to improve on others for a better future. Lets take for
example; there are some certain things have done or that has happened to me
in the last few years that will never happen to me again because once beaten
twice shy and this comes as a result of experience.
Another point I found very interesting is that success and failure are not
usually the result of single events. That failure is the result of
neglecting to do a particular thing at a point in time and feeling inferior
and not been able to persist. Another interesting point to me is that those
who succeed in life tend to make decisions rapidly and are slow to reverse a
well thought out of position, conversely, people who fail usually decide
slowly and change their minds frequently. Once you've made a sound decision,
stick by it.
I am able to make three decisions that will change my health, career,
relationships and my life as a whole, and I am willing and ready to act upon
them. The Giant Steps Book enlightens me in the area of turning invisible to
visible. That, the first step is to define my dream accordingly and mapping
out a strategy in making those dreams a reality or forming a plan that will
ensure their attainment and success. I am also able to understand that the
secret of unleashing my true power is setting goals that are exciting enough
that they are truly inspiring that will inspire my creativity and ignite my
passion.
Allowing the reticular activating system to function properly because when
it does every other parts of the brain will act accordingly. Then one will
be happy because everything one does will be to one's ability and
fulfillment. Have also learned that under the bright light of conscious
scrutiny negative association often loses their hold on you; awareness is
the first step.
Another point that I found very interesting is that the book laid emphasis
on knowing the most important thing that is needed at every point in time
and having a direction in which one is heading to. That it is very important
to set standards for instance, one should endeavour to set out goals one
must achieve in a year or more.
Believing in one's spirit is another point that I found very interesting.
One should believe that the human spirit is unconquerable. They will win,
the will to succeed, to shape one's life, to take control can be harnessed
only when one decide on what is needed and believe that no challenge, no
problem, no obstacle can keep you from it. I used to feel having obstacles
in life is bad but I now realize that obstacles are merely a call to
strengthen your resolve to achieve your worthwhile goals. I am able to add
to my reservoir of knowledge that every great and commanding moment in the
annals of the world is the triumph of some enthusiasm.
Knowing how to get what you really want is another interesting point, that
to achieve one's goals and objectives in life one should first of all
discover what is preventing you from taking action in achieving those set
goals. Having known the mistakes of the past that brought about the
consistent and heavy obstacles, one should try and device a strategy in
using the mistakes to change your life. Instead of asking how can I avoid
doing this painful task; ask; if I don't take action now what will this
ultimately cost me. Relating this to my experience in life now, I really
don't think there is no month I don't encounter different obstacles before I
could get what I need as at the time I need it. I was thinking of how to
money so as to offset some of my bills but something told me it will be
difficult to get the money but after sometime I realized that it is the bad
spirit that it is making me feel like that. That I should be optimistic and
follow it with action instead of feeling it is impossible. After a day or
two my project supervisor called me and gave me a job to do that worth the
amount needed for my immediate needs.
Therefore, I totally agree with been optimistic and putting up action and
consistency to get what you want. I am also able to know that pain is
sometimes used to shape one's destiny. That one of the miracles of been
human is that we can decide what causes us pain and pleasure. I am also able
to know that haven read the book Giant Steps, that some of our behavior
could either destroy or make us. Fine, I know about this before but it
re-registers or re-login into my brain that I should be cautious of what I
do and when I do it. I should not do things in excess but in moderate that
too much of everything is bad. Having a desire to gain is another
interesting point. Relating this to my personal experience, I have a target
to have my Ph.D in the next five years and be earning good salary, living a
comfortable life and affecting others positively above all.
Furthermore, I am been wise now because of the pains I have gone through
while growing up. It has made me to be a better person in life. I used to
find it difficult to eat three square meal, wear what I want to wear when I
want to, live where I want to and go where I want to at a particular point
in time. Now, I found it very easy to manage my resources and I hardly run
into pains or problems. Having mixed association is another great and
excellent point relating it to my personal experience; I found out that when
I tried mixing up my friends, there is always a change in my character.
There was a time I was moving with some group of friends that smokes and
drink heavily. I found out that after sometime, I started drinking, not just
drinking but heavily. I later realised it and took to my heels and correct
my actions because it was getting out of hand then. My normal I cannot
finish a bottle of Guinness stout before but after moving or mixing up my
friends, I started taking three to four bottles on a sit. Therefore, mixing
up relationships or friends can either mar or made you. I have experienced
the two as in negative and positive. It has also helped me in making
decision on my finance and relationship that have been finding very
difficult to achieve. I am able to state the positive and negative emotions
towards achieving my goals and objectives in life.
2. Can you relate the ideas or concepts in this book to your personal
circumstance in life such as your relationships, your beliefs, goals and
values, etc. Please use personal example in your explanation?
The ideas in the book Giant Steps is unlimited. Some of the ideas that I
will relate to my personal circumstances are the following to mention but a
few.
How to get what you really want, the power to create and the power to
destroy. Questions are the answers, the vocabulary of success. Get the knack
of change. Your personal compass.
Relating the idea how to get what you really want to my personal life. I am
doing all I can in my academics now to get what I want. What am I saying in
essence, I am studying so hard, making sure I am punctual in class and do my
assignment up to date. I am presently in 3.25 in my school as the cumulative
grade point and I must get to 3.50 to make a 2.1 and not 2.2. This is really
a big challenge for me because I know I am a 2.1 candidate. I know quiet
well that for me to make a 2.1 I need to have 0.25 and to make this I must
put extra effort with prayers. Yes, I know how to get what I want but if I
don't act it will be meaningless; therefore, knowing how to get what you
want and taking action goes hand in hand for effectiveness and efficiency.
The second idea is the power to create and the power to destroy. As related
to my idea, I believe that it is the mind that maketh good of ill, that
maketh wretch or happiness, rich or poor. It is what we think inside that
will portray on the outside. That is, everything depends on what we think
inside of us that we exhibit. I believe that what really shapes our lives is
the meaning we attach to events. That one should not allow a past
circumstance to limit todays happiness. The only thing that will make one
happy is to use the past experience and what you think inside of you to be
stronger, wiser and been able to counsel others who may face the same
challenges? And I also belief that one should always be ready to make
positive change anytime, anywhere one finds himself. As we know, the beliefs
have the power to create and the power to destroy; for us to overcome this,
we must understand there three challenges:
* Most of us do not consciously decide what were going to believe.
* Most often, our beliefs are based on a misinterpretation of the past and
once we are adopt a belief, we tend o consider it gospel and forget that its
only one perspective. In all I am able to learn that it is better to adopt
the positive view towards situations and life in general. To my
understanding a belief is nothing more than a feeling of certainty about
what something means. For example if I believe that I am intelligent, then
it is more than just an idea but a believe of certainty. That I am
INTELLIGENT, it is very possible to turn idea into a belief if I just
provide enough reference experiences to support it.
My own belief towards examination malpractices is negative. I don't belief
it is right to cheat, I belief in proper preparation for examination.
Questions are the answers as related to my relationships, beliefs, goals and
objectives. According to Albert Einstein in the book Giant Steps opined that
the important thing is not stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason
for existing. One cannot help but be in aware when he contemplates the
mysteries of eternity of life of the marvelous structure of reality. It is
enough if one tries merely to comprehend a little of this mystery everyday.
Never lose a holy curiosity.
Questions are the laser of human consciousness. In asking better questions
there is usually better answers. Let's take for example in a true life
situations. If one gets to an environment that is totally new from the
existing environment one must definitely ask in order not to misbehave or if
you are going somewhere and you missed your direction, you are bound to ask
questions if not you will mss your way. So, most often question gives
answer.
Another point as related to my belief, goals is the vocabulary of success
that sometimes in our moments of greatest fear, pain or emotional intensity,
we look for relief in the form of a belief. Before now, I had made up my
mind that I will not have a relationship with any man again over a hurtful
relationship I had some years ago.
I never belief I could. I am now better experienced. Get the knack of change
is another point. I will like to relate to my beliefs, relationship and
goals. Yes, change is a constant thing in life and everybody is subjected to
change. To my personal experience in my relationship, I used to feel I will
get married to my first boyfriend I never new I could be subjected to
change. Let's take for example in some situation one tends to bend rules
because of change. Furthermore, change is such a great thing because the
lifestyle, fashion, politics of last decade is different from this decade
own because of change. My manner of reasoning last two years towards things
is changed now because I have read so many inspirational books. I now have a
new way of reasoning because of change. In conclusion, I see change to be a
constant thing because courage unused diminishes; commitment unexercised
wanes; passion unexpressed dissipates.
Your personal compass simply explains your personal strategies, your power,
authority over things. I have power over everything around, depending on how
I exercise the authority over them. This also implies what I belief.
Thinking of the far-reaching effects on my life if only I had a stronger
sense of certainty to back up my empowering beliefs.
In building my personal compass which is my strategy and beliefs. I usually
exercise the following to boost my level of commitment.
* Selecting a belief I wish to rise to the level of commitment because
without you committing yourself to a particular belief, there is always what
is called change but if one have a strong belief and influence on the
particular things; the level of commitment will be high.
* Adding new and stronger references to this belief, for example if you've
decided never to eat meat again, talk to people who lead vegetarian or vegan
lifestyles to discover how this choice has affected them.
* Try to find or create a triggering event that produces strong emotional
intensity. For example, if you have owned to give up smoking, visit the
intensive care wing of an hospital to observe emphesema patients. Whether
your steps are big or small, start acting, on your conviction as a weapon of
making a positive change.
3. What are the most important new ideas you learned from this book? Please
explain.
The new ideas I learnt from the book Giant Steps is unlimited knowing the
secret of success, using Bill Gate as a vivid example. Often we assume that
the secret of success is one been a genius. Yet, I believe that the true
genius is the ability of an individual to marshal the most potent resources
simply by putting ourselves in a state of absolute certainty.
Bill career was launched when he was a college student at Harvard and he
promised to deliver software he had not developed for a computer he had
never seen. What do I gain from this illustration; simply put I learnt to be
optimistic, to have a sense of certainty and to be self-confidence. Because
of his certainty, which was completely unfounded, he was able to tap all the
resources he needed to successfully co-design the software and begin to
build his fortune. I learn that one is more likely to succeed in any arena
if only we are not after or committed to achieving a result, but also
absolutely certain that one can do it and you should often train yourself to
feel empowering emotion.
Another idea that is new to me is that 'imagination' is more powerful than
knowledge. I began to ask myself how until I proceed with the reading before
I could now understand. I am able to denote that time and again has been
proven that our brains cannot tell the difference between something we
vividly imagine and something we actually experience and once one
understands this it can transform one's life. For example, many people are
afraid to try something just because they have never done it before. But I
believe that the very foundation of leaders' success is that, despite the
past experiences to the contrary, they repeatedly imagine obtaining their
desired results. In this way they forge the sense of certainty that guides
them to tap into their true potential. I intend serving in a very good place
that will maximize my potential but so many people are discouraging me that
it will be difficult but I know that it will come to past because it is a
goal I must achieve by God's Grace.
Another idea that is new to me is that great people are accurate and
intelligent so therefore once I can be accurate and act intelligently in my
doings, I will be great and I think I am on the right track. Positive
perceptions provide them with the emotional support and divine to persist
and eventually master the skill. What I learnt here is that is god to be
positive minded because the passions to usually give upon the way that there
is no intelligent reason to continue a fruitless endeavour to them.
This has always been my attitude because I believe in God and myself so
much, I believe whatever I am set out to do will definitely come out well,
but haveing read it in the book Giant Steps, I am now empowered the more.
I am meant to understand and believe that achievers usually see problems as
transitory while those who fail usually see even the smallest problems as
everlasting. That if one persist you will definitely find a way out. That
makes me an achiever because I am always face with different problems daily
but I see them as making me independent, responsible and sound thereby
pushing me to where my success is; because I am always thinking of how to
solve the problems and these has made me in no time to be logical in
reasoning.
4. Has this book Challenge or Change your thinking in anyway? If so explain.
Yes, it has challenged my thinking and changed my notion about some aspect
of my life. Who say I cant become what I want to be. I used to say it
because I feel one's I set a particular time in achieving something and I
did not; it is always giving a cause to feel bad and abandoned or forget
about the project.
I usually feel I can't become the minister of sport because it has been my
dream. But there is no place I mentioned that; that I am been encouraged.
All I hear is it is not possible because they play politics and been a
female and I myself always feel since it has not been in the record that
someone with a degree of Human Kinetics and Health Education held the post
of Sports Minister. But haven read this book. It has awaken my sports
towards my dream of becoming the Sports Minister, if possible the first
female, Human Kinetics holder Sports Minister. So help me God. I am also
challenge to buckle up. That it is not over until is over. I can still make
a first class and not second class even with a semester left. I can still
get the 0.25 to get to the first class. I also feel can study law because I
have a flair for it but I am challenged with different examples and
illustration of different great people in the book Giant Steps. I really
thank my star for knowing about the leadership school who provide me with
the opportunity of getting books like this for free. Thank you, Global
Leadership School.
Furthermore, I have always been feeling that its takes or so long for me to
achieve what I already set for myself five years ago and I am beginning to
get discouraged that all my effort has been a waste or in vain.
But after reading the Giant Steps Book I immediately have a change of heart
that I will definitely get to my promise land.
The book has really changed my way of thinking and has added to my reservoir
of knowledge. My eyes are also open to so many things that I was not taken
cognizance of. At a point in my life; I got tired of life because I felt I
have not achieved anything but to the Glory of God to day I know I am an
overcomer. Even as they make jest of me in my family that my mates travels
in and out of the country that what have I achieved. I know now that the sky
is my limit. I too will be traveling for holiday, course outside Nigeria
like the United States of America, United Kingdom, France, Canada, Italy
when the time comes.
Thanks to the Author of the Giant Steps that once again awaken my spirit
that I am one in a million. That I can do all things because I am
intelligent, wonderful, beautiful, full of charisma and enthusiasm and above
all, I am a Genius and I am born to be great that no one can intimidate me.
5. Are there ideas in the book that you totally disagreed with?
“NO”
6. What did you find most helpful and least helpful in this book?
I found all the points very helpful because they all fit into different
areas of life. Every word in the book is inspirational and soul lifting. The
book has help me to belief more in myself that I am capable of doing all
thing provided I am certain. I think this book is actually meant for me. The
book is excellent; it is full of confidence building words. The book took
out time to explain in details with illustration on how to achieve greatness
and different steps one needs to go through to have a smooth road to one's
destination of success.
7. In 50 words or less, please describe the main idea the whole book is
trying to convey.
The book is trying to convey that one has the final decision into become
great or not. That in every thing one does, one must first of all be able to
make decision and stand by it. After doing this, one must be ready to act
positively towards seeing the success of that decision taken. They explain
the indepth of pain. How it affects our been successful in life. That
achievers don't see problems as something bad but as a pathway to success.
That is as transitory while those who fail usually see even the smallest
problems as everlasting. That one should be optimistic and watch the kind of
relationship or friends one keeps because mixed friends can either affect
one positively or negatively. The great leaders are accurate and intelligent
therefore one should try to follow that step. In all, if one is going
through pain, one should not see it as feeling trapped rather one should use
the pain as one's strongest ally or weapon of moving forward.
Please rate the following questions on a scale from 1 to 10. Ten is good and
one is poor.

Keys To Success: The 17 Principles Of Personal Achievement
Assessment by Aremu Abosede Oluwaseun (Nigeria)
1. What ideas were personally most interesting to you in this book? Do not
simply list the ideas but explain or discuss why they were important to you
using personal examples.
Oh! la! la! This is amazing, I am glad with the word you can achieve success
in anything you do. All the ideas broke into sub-topics are personally most
interesting. The following are the ideas:-
Develop Definiteness of Purpose, Establish a Mastermind Alliance, Assemble
an Attractive Personality, Use Applied Faith, Go the Extra Mile, Create
Personal Initiative, Build a Positive Mental Attitude, Control your
Enthusiasm, Learn from Adversary and Defeat, Cultivate Creative Vision,
Maintain Sound Health and the Seventeen Principles of Success.
Developing definiteness of purpose is very important because for one to be
great in life one must be purposeful. Definiteness of purpose is the
starting point of all achievement and he who lacks purpose in life will lack
direction (Aremu Oluwaseun, 2007).
It is good to define your goals and put or assign a time limit to each goal.
That for one to be successful one must have a plan for reaching a particular
set goal and one must be ready to devote the greatest part of one's thought
and effort towards that direction or end.
I have been cultivating the habit of defining purpose since I started
reading inspirational books. Knowing the valuable secret is very essential.
According to the author of keys to success, he said in his book that the
most important part of this book is not written on its pages but is already
in the reader mind. That the ability learn how to harness the tremendous
potential of your mind and how to organize the knowledge one already has,
you can turn them into the power necessary for attaining our definite major
purpose in life.
There is a proverb I learnt in the book that says;
If you will plant for days, plant flowers.
If you will plant for years, plant trees.
If you will plant for eternity, plant ideas.
Putting ideas and definiteness of purpose to work will go a long way.
I am able to understand that definiteness of purpose builds or develops self
reliance, personal initiative, imagination, enthusiasm, self discipline and
concentrated effort and all these qualities are required for success.
Specialization, budgeting time and money, alertness to opportunity, decision
making capability, cooperation, faith, success consciousness are also
necessary to be accurate in dealing with the environment which in turn can
lead to success. The power of subconscious reflects that any dominating
ideas, plan or purpose held in your conscious mind through repeated effort
and emotionalized by a burning desire for its realization is taken over by
the sub-conscious and acted upon through whatever natural and logical means
may be available. That the only thing one has control over is the mental
attitude; as well know that the conscious mind is where reasoning and
thinking occur. It analyzes information and data and it acts as a guardian
of doorway to the sub-conscious.
Putting definiteness of purpose into work is very important, that is,
putting your purpose or goals into action. You must be map out strategy or
ways of having a head way and be willing and ready to put those things
analyzed into actions. Creating a plan is also valuable. To be rich, one
must take cognizance of the fact that nothing goes for nothing. Something
must go for something, people who have money to give will expect something
inn return. Let's take for example most married rich men likes having an
affair with the young ladies. All the rich men want from the ladies is to
sleep with them and exchange money in return.
Success is a worthy goal. That striving for success as its detractors. Some
people do say that those who are successful achieve their success at the
expense of their workers. But if you are going to achieve success, you will
do so only by extraordinary effort, effort that most people are not willing
to make. You will learn in achieving wealth that success comes about only
because you are willing to assume great responsibility and to deliver
unfailingly goals and services which are truly valuable. To achieve success
one does not have to watch others. If millions of people are struggling to
get by on the salaries they earn, it is because their highest aim is only to
hold the jobs they currently have. They are where they are and they are
making what they make solely because of the limitations they have set up in
their minds. There is a theory that says opportunities for success are fewer
now than the past. This is nothing that the willingness and readiness to
achieve success will set the pace the achieving the success.
In achieving success one must also be able to form a mastermind alliance. In
this group of individuals you must be able to determine your purpose, must
be ready to go along with others, determine your rewards either it is
positive or negative because there are ten basic motives towards action that
can be the basis of these rewards. Self-presentation, love, fear, sex,
desire for life after death, freedom for mind and body; anger, mate, desire
for recognition and self expression and wealth. Wealth will obviously will
have the greatest appeal, like if I want to do anything I must first of all
look at the reward in monetary value before looking at every other things.
Setting a time and place for meeting is very crucial as too have the
interest of members of the Alliance at heart. In the meeting several issues
will be discussed as to how to achieve the set goals and objectives.
Maintaining the alliance is another good and important aspect of having a
group, because it is one thing to form a group of alliance for a particular
thing and is another to maintain it. Confidence, understanding, fairness and
justice must be involved for a functionable and efficient group.
Assemble an attractive personality is another point, I found very
interesting. Positive mental attitude with flexibility and sincerity of
purpose, promptness of decision, the habit of smiling, facial expression,
tolerance, frankness of manner and speech, a keen sense of humor, faith,
sense of justice, sense belongingness and the appropriate use of words.
Effectiveness of speech, fondness of people is very important so as to carry
people along in every sense. In a group of people that have a common goal;
the appointed leader and the member of the committee must be humble in every
sense. Having a positive mental attitude is the right mental attitude in any
given situation and is most often composed of the plus characteristics
symbolized by such words as faith, integrity, hope, optimism, courage,
initiative, generosity, tolerance, tactfulness, kindliness and good common
sense is essential and pertinent to have a smooth journey to success.
Promptness of decision is also needed because opportunity is everywhere, but
it is fleet of foot. Even if you have the vision to recognize it, without a
fast decision on your part, it will be gone. In making or trying to suggest
a point, there must be respect because the cheapest and most profitable
quality in the world is courtesy. It is absolutely free and save for the
moment it take to express it. Nowadays, most people find it difficult to
express. I have learnt now that it takes nothing to apply or express
courtesy in everyday activities.
2. Can you relate the ideas or concepts in the book to your personal
circumstances in life such as your relationships, your beliefs, your goals,
your values, etc? Please use your personal examples.
There are so many concepts in this book. The concept of definiteness of
purpose is very related to my relationship. In any relationship I enter, I
am always conscious of the purpose, trying to weigh the loss from the gain.
I am always setting standards for myself and taking and standing on whatever
decision I choice to take concerning the relationship. I am always definite
with the reason of being in the relationship. There are different purposes
of having a relationship, it might be because of influence, good financial
stance, knowledge, marriage and among others. I have been in different
relationship for different purposes.
Flexibility is another concept that is very important in order for one to
move forward. One does not have to be too rigid; but that does not mean that
one will be loose but it will be done accurately and intelligently in order
to win the race.
Tolerance is also another great idea. I have always been finding it
difficult to tolerate people because there are some people that will
definitely stand on your toes even if one is trying to tolerate them. Let's
take for example my house, I am used to buying my toiletries and keeping
them in my wardrobe for my own usage along because it is what have been used
to when the family was large. Now that all my elder ones have gotten married
and I am now the eldest in the house, my Mum and my younger ones always
expect me to buy the toiletries and provision and keep for the whole house.
I found this very difficult to do because it was not like that I was growing
up. The only thing my elder sister would buy for the house is the toothpaste
and probably food stuff. But nowadays, my younger ones expect one to buy
perfume, beverages, etc, and keep for the house. I used to find it
difficult. As in, I find it difficult to tolerate this but now I can now
adjust and tolerate it in my own way and may God continue to bless me so
that I will just overlook it. Even to the outside world it is very essential
and pertinent to be able to tolerate others. Since I am into sport, I have
always been founding myself in the midst of different people good bad and
ugly and have always been trying to tolerate them to the best of my
knowledge. But having read this book, I think I will improve. It can be very
difficult to tolerate others but somehow it is important to be tolerance.
The appropriate use of word is very important. It is not everybody that
knows how to talk. Most people does not have manner of approach but I think
I do; because I don't want anybody to approach me in a rudely manner
therefore I must know how to approach one in an appropriate manner.
The usage of unclean languages is very bad. Usage of vulgar words and I
think this is common among the upcoming ones because of the influence of the
environment. From the ages 8 - 18 now are so rude in their approach. The
level of morality is depreciating compare to when I was between ages 8 and
18. I really do respect whatever is older than me even if is a day. But
nowadays, the reverse is the case. I am always careful in my relationship
with people. Emotional control is another good idea that needs to take
cognizance of most especially by me. Much of what we do is directed by our
feelings. Since our feelings can lift us to great achievements or hurt us
down to defeat, we owe it to ourselves to understand and control them. In
most cases, ones emotions act negatively towards goals, purpose and our
relationship in life. Some of the negative emotions are fear, hatred, anger,
creed, jealousy, revenge, superstition.
Fear is evil oriented. Because, once one begin to fear a particular thing,
that means the thing might not come out well because of fear. In most cases,
I am always having fear that how do I achieve these set goals and this is
usually a bad omen. I also have phobia for water which till today as made me
unable to swim. Having hatred for a fellow being is also not a good emotion,
because the bible says, love your neighbour as yourself. In all the negative
emotion is bad and it hinders promotion in life.
The positive emotions are love, sexuality, hope, faith, sympathy, optimism
and loyalty. These are good fruits.
3. What are the most important new ideas you learned from this book?
Explain.
The most important new ideas are understanding, infinite, intelligence,
overcoming disbelief, overcoming fear, replacing fear with hope and
demonstrating the power of your faith.
In understanding infinite of intelligence; it is impossible to have active
life without wisdom. Wisdom comes from the understanding of intelligence.
For one to be intelligent and have an understanding which is wisdom, one
must belief in the Supreme Being because he is the one that gives all
knowledge, wisdom and understanding. In believing in a Supreme Being, there
are so many approaches to gaining such a belief. Observation
experimentation, feeling, prayer, meditation and thought, all are legitimate
paths. One learns things in different ways. You learn things by seeing their
effects or by accepting the statements of people you trust. In your search
for knowledge about infinite intelligence, you may search within the
external universe or within yourself. As Tennyson wrote “the sun, the moon,
stars, sea, the hills and the plains are not these O soul the vision of him
who reigns”. Look at the wrist watch on you arm. You know equally well that
this human intelligence did not originate in that single mind but that it
was merely an instrument expressing the force of the natural order of the
universe. If the parts of the watch are put into an hat, never will they
re-assemble and become a watch unless a deliberate organized intelligence
with a definite plan. Like a watch the universe simply could not exist as it
does without being the product of an infinite intelligence.
Your conscience is a tool which puts you in touch with these forces,
similarly, when you engage in prayer, you explore this two internal world.
It is the power of these experiences that shapes lives again and again. This
ability of the human mind to discover, embrace and disseminate fundamental
ideas and concepts is further proof of our ability to enter into a definite,
positive relationship and adapt it to your purposes in life. This is
accomplished by applied faith.
Overcoming disbelief is another new idea that I have learnt while reading
this book. Having known and understand the meaning of faith. Faith is a
state of mind which develops by conditioning your mind to receive infinite
intelligence. Applied faith is the adaptation of the power of infinite
intelligence to your major definite purpose. Applied faith is the dynamic of
the science of personal achievement. The source of energy to put your
thought into action. Faith is your awareness of, belief in, and harmonizing
with the universal powers. You should not simply have faith, you must use
it. Faith can also be a state of mind, for it to be useful to one in
achieving lasting success. As we know that active faith is the process of
relating yourself to the vital forces of the world, which I call infinite
intelligence. Whatever one's mind can conceive and belief it can achieve.
Therefore, do not allow self-imposed limitations and restrictions to block
the flow of infinite intelligence.
One should endeavour to clear the mind of all negative thoughts of want,
